Couple buy from only Black own Businesses for 1 year

We need more of this. More of this mind set. We represent 8 billion in purchasing power.

I don't even know of any black owned stores that sell food or clothing :smh: Shit I wish I could copy these folks.

Re: Couple buy from only Black own Businesses for 1 year

Fam, good look on posting this. I had this exact same thought process earlier today. I got so fed up by how this local convenience store was treating black patrons that I vowed to only support black businesses for my new year's resolution. It's a tough task but I think it's time we start valuing our dollar and understanding how powerful it is.

cosign. I use to work in advertising, when you see the board rooms of these magazines, ad agencies and production companies the staff is 99.9% white. A lot of them create ads for black products too

And the local stores in neighborhood? Asian or white. Every time I got out to eat down town I'm paying to eat at a place where whites would rather I dont come, unless I'm dressed up of course:smh:

throw in some titties and i guarantee you'll get more hits going 4ward.

twss

That awesome. It would be great if we had a thread listing known black owned business. It could constantly be updated by our members.

power in keeping it running circles in our community

golden rule

"He who makes the money makes the rule"

Re: Couple buy from only Black own Businesses for 1 year

everybody else does it....and when we spend with others, I feel like they don't value our dollar. Problem is that black folks in the states have the mindset of consumers and not businessmen.

Re: Couple buy from only Black own Businesses for 1 year

 thats wasup. sometimes i think i take it for granted that i have alot of great black owned businesses near me like restaurants, coffee shop, cleaners, internet cafe, bars, bakery, clubs, and a commercial print shop that I use on the regular basis without even thinking bout it.

when koreans, jews, chinese and others spend money in their community its business as usual. when we do it, its a news story and they ask if its racist. racist? are these muthafuckas seriously asking that?

http://www.findblackproducts.com/
black own stuff various websites businesses

 but why is it that so many black websites have that "look". i cant put my finger on it but its like you can tell its a site for black folks before reading any text. been noticing that since the black planet days.

Maybe I'm in a bad area, but black businesses down here usually have shitty customer service.

When I got married we decided to only use black businesses.

I still try to do that but when they fuck up, I gotta hear the wife's mouth.

Ive thought about it....but its not realistic. not in my area. Youll have better luck finding a christian owned business I think. But if Blacks started more businesses other then barber shops then it would be alot easier to make that decision.

black owned hedge fund? black owned hospitals?

I'd gladly buy more Black products from Black owners if the customer service was nicer. There is a Beauty Supply store in Missouri city. If you ever go in that bitch his shelves has dust on them and he can talk to the customers like shit. Pumpkin Pie is the name of the place.

and what the fuck are u doing at a beauty supply store on a regular basis?

Black people should hide their identities when they start business'.

dumbest statement of the day.

but if ur serious about that then just start a business online and hide ur identity or put up a picture of the almighty cac man next to your bio...oh yea and never get interviewed when u get successful and never be a role model to black youth and continue to run from yourself.

Which really has more impact the purchasing from Black owned business or the products created by black owned business?

dunno. i think the biggest impact is which owner has commited to spending some of his profit with other businesses in the community.

aside from black businesses i just try to support local companies that i like doing biz with. i dont want walmart to swallow up all my favorite spots.

same here....cant say id only buy from only them but i would support them

its not all or nothing. you do what you want or can.

i always get good service in the south man. nc and ga both have some polite ass waiters and waitresses.

When I got married we decided to only use black businesses.

Ive thought about it....but its not realistic

doesnt have to be all. even if u found 1 store and just decided to use them on the regular basis.

i didnt watch the video yet (nor am I going to) but being Black (or Chinese) is a matter of probability at birth. I am not going to shop only at ethnic stores because of my ethnicity but at places that give me the best value for the desired product. Given that they are of different psychographics than i am, they can do whatever they want.

... it's a sad cycle, tho, fam. At least here in H-Town, in the 60's and early 70's, there was a thriving Black marketplace. Everything you wanted, groceries, restaurants, professional services, funeral homes - you name it, Blacks owned it; and there was plenty competition, too.

Here comes the Civil Rights Act and folk was about to piss themselves just to give their hard-earned money to a bunch of peckerwoods who didn't even want it (how's THAT for logic)... all at the expense of our Black-owned businesses. In the H, folks were forced to merge, sell out, or close for lack of support, and those that stayed in the game have been forced to scale-back the quality of their services just to keep food on the table; hence, the stereotype is qualified. We can't even hire our own - a lot of the cats I know are forced to hire these damn esays because at least them muthafuckas 'aint scared to work.

I try at every turn to support Black business, but muthafuckas disappoint me damn near every time. Niggas be late, shit not fixed the first time... but Pops taught me to be long suffering; we climb together and this color don't fade. I drive right the fuck past 5 corner stores just to partonize the one not owned by these community raping-ass Yangs (you niggas on the east coast kill me w/that bullshit - and you wanna fight them hoes for fucking you when you the one walking in bent over), but it's worth every drop of gas. Even my Moms thinks my ass is crazy, but don't give up on us, fam. Seek and support!

I talked to this couple when they came to Chicago a few months ago. They definitely have the right idea in terms of Black economics.

Considering the times we live in the concept of circulating the black dollar within our community is the only way we're going to make it going forward.

Hey you stupid bitch. Wanna elaborate more about how you don't know shit about the world?

:yes::yes::yes:

And I will remember that highlighted part every time I hear some black woman complain about how Kim-Sum done raised their prices on weave...

*two cents*

Funny Koreans dont feel that way. I've never seen an asian family in the black owned resturant or salon's down town. Whites shut us out from high paying realistic managment jobs, especially in sports and entertainment.

Buying from black owned biz creates more opportunity for the black labor force.

To the kats that say customer service sucks, we do this with black people in general. We shouldn't attribute one person's action as that of the whole race or industry. You have a bad day in home depot, does that mean Staples customer service sucks? What about Barns and Nobles? One has nothing to do with the other

This thread definitely correlates with the one on Powernomics

I thought I was the only one that caught that. Bias as fuck:smh:

working on it
