Could You Imagine A Black Democrat Supreme Court Nominee

Having an association with the Nation of Islam or the Black Panthers early on in their careers and when confronted with it during the hearings said they didn’t remember or had no recollection of it? My god, white republicans would jump all over this person. Which leads me to my continual amazement of why Black republicans are so loyal? Where are the Black republicans raising this issue? Have Black republicans sold their souls for acceptance to a political party? These Negros need to be transported via time machine back to the 1950s and before and see how far there talents, (which they believe that is the only thing that is giving them success) get them!

That cuts both ways in case you haven't noticed it. Got several democrat klansmen up in that party and it seems black democrats have nothing to say either. Democrats run NewOrleans but got an entire community of black democrats begging for support from the state when everybody knows that when you take away the incentive for people to work and do for self it leads to destruction of the race. Not to mention keeping the people lazy. Nothing out of the democrat party about that either but your focus is on dumb shit black republicans aint' doing. Seems to me if you want to point fingers, you can't have shit people can point at that is seriously more destructive that your party is ignoring as well. But I still wonder why this debate goes on in the first place when neither party is any good for us.

Typical response: Name them. Let me help you with one. Byrd from West Virginia did say he was a member of the Klan years ago, but he apologized for it and said he will regret it until his dying days. Should I forgive him? He did acknowledge his error and was not proud of it. Now Trent Lott of Mississippi, recently, said if Strom Thurman had won the presidency, we wouldn’t have the problem s we have today. Of courser Thurman, a former southern Democrat segregationist Dixecrat turned republican ran for most of his life on segregation and at the same time fathering at least one daughter from his Black house help. This was hidden until after he died in 2002. He went to his grave a hypocrite. Black republicans amaze me. They actually are quick to call some Black folk racist while defending the racist hypocrite republicans. I guess when you sell your soul for money, this is what happens. Jesse Petersons’ abound!

we're still waiting for you to produce a second thought.

What did you think about the Alito response to the concerned Alumni of Princeton question? As a Black person (assumed), didn’t this bother you?

no, this particular incident didnt bother me because thats how i see all white people, and not just the ones that YOU see out of your right eye.

all white people are a hindrance to us when we expect them be charitable and decent for decency's sake, and yes that includes your lily white liberal friends.

runaway slave said it best in an alito post on the main board. stop bitching and moaning. figure out a way to get the 40% of eligible blacks that dont vote to the polls, so you MAKE the parties think about you.

you're onethought because you're a black person(assumed) that constantly see things in a dem/repub light. they arent your priority.

This argument that if we join the Republican Party, than they will somehow change their way of thinking makes no sense. I have news for you son, the republicans are winning without us. All they want is the 10% of the Black vote to push them over the top during elections and then fuck you. The Democratic Party was over whelming southern crackers prior to 1960s and Black folk supported the Republicans up until JFK. Blacks supported FDR, mostly because of Eleanor Roosevelt’s influence on her husband. She by far was responsible for such things as getting Black folk involved in WWII and projects that helped poor people during the depression which in turned help black folk. The Republican Party abandon Black folk, if they supported us at all. The Democratic Party shifted our way during the 1948 Democratic convention when then mayor of Minneapolis Hubert Humphrey made the speech that they must include all Americans in the political process,. After that the whites began to leave the Democratic Party.
40% of Black folks that don't vote obviously don't care. I bet they know more about the latest luxo SUV or their children can recite the ignorant lyrics from the latest southern rap before they can conjugate verbs correctly. Again your vote for Bush enables people like Alito to be appointed. Don't try and shift the blame to the white liberals. Speaking of liberals, how many conservative whites marched for civil rights? The Republican right has the nerve to try and honor Rosa Parks's name now when most of them as children were shouting racist chants with their parents. Where were the white conservatives or even Black conservatives for that matter when Jesse Helms labeled Loni Guinier a welfare queen? Didn’t Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, two white liberals die with James Earl Chaney, a Black man at the hands of white conservatives while teaching Black Mississippians their voting rights? Current conservative republican U.S. Senator Trent Lott, who, while a student at the University of Mississippi supported not prosecuting the Klansmen. True, we Black folk need to unite and do our do, but the conservative whites have done more damage to black folk than white liberals. Learn history. I would take a well intentioned white liberal over a hard core Black conservative (Jesse Peterson) any day!

how do you consistently miss the point.

"This argument that if we join the Republican Party"

you really just have onethought in your head.

did i say who to vote for? i said vote. i talked about the idea of making us a group of 20 million consistent voters. they would promise us all type of shit just to help them get out of the primaries.

and all you're worried about is making sure people dont vote republicans.

didnt kerry only lose by a few million votes? like i said before stop bitching and moaning and realize thats its useless to complain now. work towards getting the other 10 million black people to vote then you can stop acting like the world is coming to an end all the goddamn time.

the democrats really got you by the nuts. i talk about black people you bring up protecting the democrats. the shit aint synonymous onethought.

The point is that today’s Republican Party is not going to help the majority of Black people. This is a two party system whether we like it or not, at least for now. The only way we can thwart the party in power is to unite against them in the Democratic Party. I don’t hear any of the few Blacks in the Republican party talking about leaving. You see what happened when Ralph Nader siphoned off votes in 2000.

when did i say leave the democrats.

i'm making the point that if you have complaints about who the president nominates then get the other 10 million black to vote. YOUR problems can be solved that way because out of those 10 million 9 million would have voted for kerry and he only lost by a couple of million.

black people complaining about our place in politics doesnt fly with me when millions of us dont even bother to register. you arent powerless to affect that.

if its good enough for you to blow it off and say, "40% of Black folks that don't vote obviously don't care" then its must be good enough for you to accept bush isnt going to nominate anyone you want him to.

This is a Kinky thread -- this one and that other thread talking about "Only 60% percent of Black people voted in 2004."

Kinky Friedman is an odd cuss running for governor in the State of Texas. Kindky notes that only 29% of voters went to the polls in the last gubernatorial race in Texas. That race was won by a republican.

Kinky Friedman says, he's not running against the Republican or the Democratic candidate for governor -- he is running against apathy, the 71% of Texans who failed to show up last election.

Kinky Friedman may very well not be your kind of candidate, but you have to admit apathy plays a large part in the complaints that follow, damn near every election in this country.

Pay close attention to how the media reports the supreme court nomination.

Remember this thread when Obama’s Supreme Court nominee is before the senate.

Race To The Bottom: Conservative Media Smear Judge Sotomayor As "Racist," "Bigot"

You have to admit, the debate/discussion that followed your initial post was damn good, especially the argument, in my opinion, that rejected the whole notion of "party loyalty" because, when you get down to it, there are racist and bigots on both sides of the political stripe. In fact, don't you really acknowledge the same when you scream, Conservative Democrats Ain’t Listening, Vote Them Out!

So, with the debate as the backdrop, how do you tie in the subject of this thread to the Sotomayor confirmation ???
