Cuban trainer Pedro Luis Diaz was not impressed or intimidated by the recent sparring video which showed Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs) putting in a few rounds of work with Omar Henry. Diaz is training WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto for a fight with Mayweather on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather showcased a live stream of his sparring session, which took place at the boxer's gym in Las Vegas. Diaz watched a video of the sparring session but wasn't worried with anything that he saw.

"All of my efforts are to prepare Miguel for a big victory. That is my priority. People do not realize that Cotto is a boxer who has speed, strength and, above all, a huge heart in the chest that will lead him to a great victory for Puerto Rico. We're not doing too much talking, we'll [just see] when Miguel and Floyd are in the ring. Miguel's hands will do the talking," Diaz told Carlos Gonzalez.

"We saw a montage [of the sparring vide]. Mayweather is a fighter just like anyone else. He has two arms, two legs and talks a lot. I do not lose any sleep over anything Mayweather does or says. On May 5, we'll get the victory, that I can guarantee. Miguel is a warrior, a winner and we will apply everything that we've been working on to defeat Mayweather."

Fact of the matter is that Mayweather is not like every other fight, possessing arms and legs. He also happens to be a possible G.O.A.T. / Hall Of Famer!!! Whom might I add backs his talk up with wins!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Hall of Famer I agree with. GOAT status though? If we're just talking about skills - then yes, he's definitely in the mix. But just based on his body of work? No way.

Speed ain't shit if you don't have the reflexes. Flyod is fast and know how to use his speed.

Cotto might be fast....but he doesn't know how to use it the way flyod does. Easy work. 43-0!

I'd say if Cotto had great boxing IQ like a JMM, this would be a very competitive fight, but he's doesn't have it. Floyd will chop him up from the middle rounds on and possibly get a stoppage late.

Cotto is not the puncher he once was...movement not as good...much slower than Floyd....

fight is joke :smh:...May is going to give a battle worn Cotto a boxing lesson...fight should have happen yrs ago when Cotto was in his prime breaking fools down with those body shots...

this is a old Cotto...at least the Bradley Vs Pac fight will be much more competitive IMO

I totally agree with most of what you said, I don't see much difference in the Pac Bradey fight though, because both he and Floyd are VERY CAREFUL matchmakers!!! Also, when Pac fought Hatton, De La Hoya, etc, everyone was bitching about Pac fighting Floyd's leftovers, etc... but now, not so much... different story... I guess this is ok... especially after Manny fucked Cotto up... :smh:

the fight is so trash IMO because this fight is going to play out exactly how I see it an Easy UD for Floyd...

Pac be on his Bullshit...but May is right behind him...when was the last time he even had a fight against great opposition...?

he is fighting Cotto at 154 yrs away his (Cotto) Prime at 147 where PBF was not interested in fighting him...And I'm a huge Floyd fan...fight is not worth $65...

because of the styles Pac Vs Bradley will be more competitive...I see more action in that fight than Floyd's fight...

Floyd is so great but I'm really bored as fuck watching him fight these bullshit fights....does he really want a challenge?...being great is more than just talking about it....

Sergio said he can make 154 easy now thats a great fight if it materializes....

Two questions in reference to this point:

Who would you consider great opposition?

Have you considered how gifted Floyd is in comparison to not only his opponents, but any fighter that is out there?

I say this shit all the time... Its like people expect him to go into a time machine a fight Leonard. He'll fight Canelo and hopefully Martinez before he hangs them up and after the initial hype around Martinez KOing/out-boxing big name, but limited boxers... reality is setting in about how it is very possible for him to get out-boxed by a very skilled guy. Beside Pac, those are his best competitors and Floyd is easily the favorite in both those fights which means we have to put his opposition in perspective.

I disagree strongly on Pac/Bradley being more competitive since Bradley has neither the power or skill to back Manny up and I disagree that Cotto is battle worn. He was beat up when he fought Manny but he hasn't had a really tough fight since and should be as healthy and fit as he has been in years.

Cotto is in his prime now. He wasn't that impressive at 147 to say that was his prime and he's done much better (fighting and matchmaking) since he moved up to jr middleweight. He is the best opponent that Floyd's faced (in skills, experience, name value) since Oscar.

I think Sergio is a tougher fight than Pacquiao at this point.
