After carefully considering a multitude of factors and the rapidly changing situation in New York City around novel coronavirus (COVID-19), all New York Public Library locations will be closed to the public beginning on Saturday, March 14 through at least Tuesday, March 31.

Please note that Friday, March 13 will be the last day that patrons can pick up holds or borrow books until library locations reopen.

We made this decision to support the overall health and wellness of our communities and for the safety of our patrons and staff. It was a difficult decision, as we care deeply about serving the public, but the responsible thing to do—and the best way to serve our patrons right now—is to help minimize the spread of COVID-19. While we have been proud to stay open to serve the public amid storms and other emergencies, the best way we can serve our patrons now is to help contain the virus, especially as our patrons include many seniors and others at high risk.
We know the Library is a critical resource for New Yorkers of all ages, so we are taking steps to support our patrons as much as possible during this temporary closure:
  • All late fees will be suspended and due dates extended during the closure period.
  • The Library is working to expand access to e-books and increase awareness of our vast array of online resources. For example, New Yorkers can sign up for a library card to read e-books on our SimplyE app, use research databases, and much more. To learn more, visit our website, or stay tuned for email updates. (If you received this email from a friend, you can sign up for updates with our new NYPL Connect e-newsletter.)
  • Patrons can access the Library's Census resources online.
  • All branches will be sanitized before they reopen.
  • Ask NYPL virtual reference will be available and answering any questions.
The safety and health of our patrons and staff are the Library’s top priority. Please continue to check our coronavirus webpage for updates and contact Ask NYPL with questions. It is important that we all do our part to keep our communities healthy and safe.

Thank you,

Tony

President, The New York Public Library

Sounds like a clown show up there. If NY don't get the shit together, it's Italy part 2 up there. And because it's so populated, the clowns running that place will fuck it up for the rest of the country. :smh: China is populated as hell and shut every thing the fuck down. Meanwhile, Italy waited like the dumb asses in NYC. You guys need to borrow our Governor. I feel great with how Ohio is handling this shit. Rest of the country, not so much.

Go look at how St Louis handled the flu of 1918. Another blueprint that the hardest fucking hit areas of this country did not fucking follow when shit got real. St Louis ended up with the fewest number of deaths of all major cities.

One thing that Italy is doing that needs to be implemented here is having a mortgage/utility grace period. All of that trickles down to renters because landlords don't have the  "I have to pay the mortgage" excuse.
Actually if you pay attention to NYC cases guess what neighborhoods there in? I said it for yrs on here cacs have only existed this long on earth cause they surrounded themselves around other cultures... You put them on a continent by themselves and they will die out within 100 yrs.. I've been saying that for yrssss on here.. Told ya every century they get a plague... It's been 102 yrs overdue for them.. If you pay attention to the areas it's pale skins that's getting it... NYC should do a force segregation tell them cacs and Asians to go somewhere so they won't affect black and latins... If they were all force to leave the state we would be good... There was pre warnings to this when all them motherfuckers had measles.. Than this drug addiction s hit they on.. Send them back to Europe so we all can be safe

While UCF students are enjoying spring break, staff members are working on campus to ensure the health and safety of the campus community.
About 50 essential personnel gathered Tuesday morning at the UCF Emergency Operations Center for a hands-on practical discussion related to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Although no cases have been reported at UCF or Orange County, the university is collaborating with the Florida Department of Health and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to prepare in the event the outbreak affects Central Florida.
The group has met twice this month and includes personnel from nearly every facet of campus, including housing, human resources, finance, operations, counseling, health services, admissions, police and others.
“This is a critical moment for UCF, for our region, for our state, our country and for our world,” UCF Interim President Thad Seymour Jr. says. “We must be as prepared as we can possibly be. The attributes of this great institution — which is led by our compassion but is driven by our ability to think outside the box and our ability to use the grit that each of us, including all our students, brings to every problem in the world — gives me incredible confidence that we will get through this together.”

“We do have experience in this room, a lot of talent in dealing with crises,” says UCFPD Chief Carl Metzger ’03MS, who cited the team’s hurricane experience during recent years. “We know we have a lot of work ahead of us, but I have great confidence in looking around the room at all the talent and dedication. All of us are committed to keeping our campus safe.”
Joe Thalheimer ’08, manager of UCF’s Department of Emergency Management, stressed that if COVID-19 hits Orange County, UCF will modify “how it does business,” with potential for employees working remotely and students taking classes online.
The Division of Digital Learning this week launched https://dl.ucf.edu/keepteaching, a website with tools to help faculty members with online course delivery.
Michael Johnson, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs, is encouraging professors to consider relaxing attendance policies so ill students do not feel compelled to go to class.
“This is not the time to panic. This is the time to prepare.” — Michael Deichen, UCF associate vice president for Student Health Services
Hand sanitizing stations have been strategically placed around campus, and UCF is working to procure another shipment that can be placed in high-traffic areas.
“UCF has a robust pandemic plan and we are monitoring guidelines from the health department, CDC and Board of Governors,” says Michael Deichen, UCF associate vice president for Student Health Services. “This is not the time to panic. This is the time to prepare.”
More messaging is expected to be sent to faculty, students and staff later this week before campus is scheduled to resume normal operations March 16 following spring break.

5 Ways to Help Prevent Spread of Coronavirus
Practicing good hygiene habits is important for promoting good health, especially during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and flu season.
BY UCF HEALTH | MARCH 3, 2020
Washing your hands regularly helps prevent the spread of illness.
With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) top of mind, it’s important to take precautions to be as safe as possible.
Germs live everywhere. Many things we touch every day — door handles, bathroom sinks, office phones and money — have been touched by hundreds or even thousands of other people.
That’s why practicing good hygiene habits is important for promoting good health, especially during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and flu season.
Viruses such as the Coronavirus enter our systems via the eyes, nose and mouth, so avoid germs getting to your face by being vigilant and keeping your hands clean. And as much as possible, avoid touching your face — by some estimates we touch our face about 90 times a day.
Here are some tips for preventing illnesses through good personal hygiene:
1. Wash your hands and body regularly.
While you should definitely be washing your hands after you use the restroom, don’t stop there. Wash your hands frequently throughout the day, especially before meals. You should spend at least 10-20 seconds washing. The CDC has more information about the proper handwashing technique. The same goes for your body — you should be bathing at least once a day to prevent disease-causing germs from spreading.
2. Be cautious about what you touch.
Avoid grasping shared surfaces such as door handles, gas pumps, grocery carts, elevator buttons, etc. with your hands. When possible, open doors with your closed fist or hip. This is especially important when you open doors that have been used by many people – such as the bathroom or a commercial shop.
Use your knuckle to touch things like light switches and elevator buttons in public locations. At the gas station, hold the gasoline dispenser with a paper towel or disposable glove.
3. Keep hand sanitizer nearby.
Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer that is greater than 60% alcohol at home and in your car. Use the sanitizer after touching any public object. Additionally, use disinfectant wipes at stores whenever they are available. Wipe both the handle and child seat of grocery carts.
4. Wash your clothing.
Much like our bodies, germs also like to cling to our clothes. Don’t wear dirty clothing that has been sitting on your bedroom floor. The outfit you put on in the morning should be clean and free of any bacteria caused by sweat and other factors.
5. Be courteous of others if you are sick.
If you’re sick, stay home from work or school. Avoid contact with others. Don’t share utensils and glasses with others. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or sleeve and clean up immediately.
The benefits of good personal hygiene go beyond having a pleasant social presence. Good hygiene practices can keep you and those around you healthy and happy. Remember to also pay close attention to these tips when your body is most vulnerable, such as when you’re traveling or going to a place where you will be surrounded by a lot of people.

Max Kellerman ripped people for calling this thing a hoax, and Screamin A Smith said, "This is not the time to ponit fingers."

I don't understand this at all...
Dana doesn't give a fuck.

I already believe that Trump OK'ed travel to the U.K. because of the UFC even coming up next weekend. Dana has been to the White House 3 times to have dinner with his buddy Trump. I'm certain Dana asked Trump for this favor.

 WTF? First, who has access to testing? You think these cacs making it a priority to test black people? Which black people have the connections to get tested? They ain't even testing nurses who are fucking treating this. It's just so much fucking ignorance being spread about this shit. Asians aren't white, and this shit been knocking them on their ass. Let me guess, they'd die off too. Donovan Mitchell seemed to have no problem catching that shit. Rudy didn't either.

This is a serious fucking threat that might rip through the black community due to the high amount of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and lack of healthcare and you spreading misinformation without any scientific basis. I hope you ain't telling people this shit in real life, because someone can die behind that shit. :smh:

This type of ignorance is why Asians out here getting their asses kicked. Point me to the scientific evidence that backs anything you are saying about COVID-19. I've read every damn study they've released on this shit(even though not peer-reviewed yet) and nothing you say is based in science.

I had a healthy teammate die from pneumonia when I was 16. Had a close friend die from the shit. And you out here talking crazy like these viruses give a fuck. Like black people don't get the flu. Jesus Christ. On severe cases of this disease, they use chest x-rays to verify infection. If you knew anything, you'd know they use chest x-rays to look for pneumonia.

I have been paying attention to NY since you guys had some of the first cases along with Washington and Cali. The responses in your area and the others were fucking pathetic. The governments were negligent and more worried about money than doing the right thing. :smh:
