I would like to hope that by West being a scholar, he would recognize his own limitations when it comes to governing a populace and surround himself with qualified people who are capable of carrying out his agenda. Instead of picking friends and family, I'd hope that he would get people who are tired of the status quo, and find those who would like to genuinely benefit the country... not just an individual or a particular party.
I don't know if he'd do that or not. But, I know that from what we're seeing right now, the front runners on both sides are a detriment to the country and to Black people for sure.

All of that is possible, but once elected he still has to contend with a Congress made up of Democrats and Republicans, of which he didn't run as either. They will hold no loyalty to him, his political party or his ideas/ideals and he will have a high hill to climb to get anything he ran on done. In the end he will become a rubber stamp for Democrats if he wants to get anything done. This is why I think that if any third party candidate has any hopes of becoming a President, it is best that he/she do the work closer to the grassroots like a mayor or serving as a state legislator to show their political ideas actually work.

I also know that I'm doing a lot of "hoping" but, hopefully his advisors etc... would be made up of people from both major parties. And they should be able to help him along the way. There's no doubt that he'll be fighting an uphill battle all of the way.
But no matter how the other two parties feel, and no matter what the other two parties say... they'll have to deal with him as well. If he's strong enough, it will not be one-sided. Of course they are going to try to punk the crap out of him; but, he'll have tools at his disposal as well. That veto power can be very strong, he'll just have to have the courage to use it.
We all know that the executive branch is powerful. He'll be okay if he can get his "behind the scenes" game tight.That's where his advisors can come into play. He's going to need a Chief of Staff who understands how the Washington political machine works. He'll need a well "seasoned" vet in that position, like a James Baker type of person.
