A Tyler native, who witnessed an incident that has gone viral out of McKinney, Texas, over the weekend is speaking out in defense of the local police department.
Benét Embry, a John Tyler High School alum, host of The Benét Embry Radio Show in Dallas and author of "Emotional Response," lives in the neighborhood of Craig Ranch where police responded to an "out of control pool party." He spoke exclusively with KETK about what he saw.
"First off, I have lived in the Craig Ranch community of McKinney for eight years, since 2006," Embry explained. "And what I witnessed, was a teenage party get way out of control. That's what this whole situation is about."
Embry tells KETK the Home Owners Association for their community only allows each household to bring two guests to the pool with them. There was a party going on that was supposedly sponsored by the HOA, but then it began being promoted on social media. That's when Embry says everyone from outside the community began to show up. According to DFW news outlets, a "promoter," 19-year-old Tatiana Rhodes, who goes by the name of "Young KC" or @Keef_Cakez on Twitter, sent out unauthorized invitations to the HOA-sponsored party.
"There were over 100 kids at the pool," Embry recalled. "Security began telling people they couldn't come in and that they had to leave. That's when people started jumping over fences to get into the pool area. In the process of them doing this, words were exchanged and a fight broke out."
The fight was between Rhodes (the promoter) and an unidentified female. The scuffle can be seen in the video below. (Pictures of Rhodes can be viewed in the slideshow above.)
