Singer Off Superman Sequel?
Plus, the word on JLA and Batman 3.
by Stax

January 3, 2008 - There are rumblings out of Hollywood that the sequel to Superman Returns might lose its director, and that the live-action Justice League of America movie might not be filming in early 2008 as had previously been reported.

Variety columnist and blogger Anne Thompson claims that "it is highly unlikely that Bryan Singer will return to shoot the next Superman movie. (The director is finishing up Tom Cruise's Nazi film Valkyrie, and prepping The Mayor of Castro Street)."

Thompson adds, "The next Superman we will see on the big screen will not be Brandon Routh, but a younger Superman among a cast of youthful superheroes in The Justice League. That movie will likely not be shot, however, until after the WGA strike is resolved."

Furthermore, Thompson recently ran into Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan at a Christmas party in Hollywood, where she learned that the Batman Begins sequel "is character-driven PG, Nolan said. That way The Joker has to be really scary without resorting to real violence."

Warner Bros. is reportedly "so happy with Dark Knight that their fondest hope is that Nolan will return to do another Batman."

MAN WTF?!

One More Day = Biggest bullshit since the Clone saga

And now it looks like Bruce Banner is no longer the Hulk, and Bucky may be donning Cap's shield any day now...

One thing I loved about Marvel is that you always knew who people were, now characters are changing all the time. I haven't seen characters get fucked with like this since the last time I read a DC book.

I think I just saved lots of money on my car insurance by not buying comics...

Okay people! its time to play my favorite game......

:D:DGUESS WHO'S A SKRULL!!!!:D:D
tell us who you think is a skrull and why...

I'll start. The first person i think is a Skrull is Spiderwoman, I think once "elektra skrull" got killed she figured she would turn a negative into a positive and use it
as an advantage to get back into the avengers...

I know sentry is a nutjob but ultron did kill his wife. so thats gotta be a skrull in her place about to use the sentry as a weapon against the rest of the marvel universe.

Kimodo is a Skrull. The reason Captain Marvel is back is to stop the invasion.

um, you need to read the red hulk comic

banner is still the hulk, there's just another one running around now....

how the hell can he be red?

banner's green based upon the color spectrum of gamma radiation = green

red = infrared.....

i could see white/black for cosmic or purple for ultraviolet but red?

The Steve Rogers that died was the Skrull and the real Steve Rogers is held in some place in captivity and then will come back and that will explain the Return of Captain America... Just like Jean Grey...THE END! (House of Ideas, my ass.)

Maybe Wolverine is a fucking Skrull with the amount of books that motherfucker be in...Wack ass shit.

The Walking Dead is the bomb ass book ATM!

after reading the most recent avengers book and what you said i'd have to agree about lindsey being a skrull...actually two skrulls have played her part.

So is Luke Cage's baby a Skrull or not?
Maybe Captain America was a Skrul the whole time annd not Iron Man.
Why wouldn't Cap go along with Registration? It's the American thing to do.
He could be hiding out with Fury.

I dont think Captain america was a skrull because when he died he didnt
turn back "skrully" like electra did. oh, another reason i think spiderwoman is a skrull is because there was an issue of e new avengers where doc strange did some spell and she was in the corner like she had a headache and they never explained that......

also, hawkeye coming back from the dead with no explination.....

skrully.

but they say EVERY major team in the marvel U has at least one so....

I'd like to start off by giving thanks to Link for the comic's

Now I know who's a definite Skrull. scroll down

Comic fans fume as Marvel erases Spidey-MJ marriage

By David Colton, USA TODAY
Those who know Spider-Man only from Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst in the movies might be surprised to learn that in the comic book, the web-spinning hero has been married for almost 21 years.

That's why the comic world is in an uproar over Marvel Comics' decision to undo the marriage of Peter Parker and red-haired bombshell Mary Jane Watson, reversing two decades of storytelling.

In Amazing Spider-Man #545 last week, Peter and Mary Jane make a tearful deal with the devil-like character Mephisto: In exchange for saving Aunt May's life, Mephisto erases all traces of the Peter-Mary Jane marriage from memory.

In the issue out this week, subtitled Brand New Day, Peter Parker returns to his roots — young, nerdy and single. Aunt May is alive and well and Mary Jane is again just part of the cast. The marriage never happened.

"People are very upset. They erased a lot of stuff that had been set in stone," says John Newman, manager of Ultimate Comics in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Wednesday as customers came in to buy the opening chapter of Brand New Day. To help emphasize the new start, Amazing Spider-Man will go thrice-monthly.
FIND MORE STORIES IN: Peter | Parker | Spider-Man | Tobey Maguire | Kirsten Dunst | Marvel Comics | Stan Lee | Mary Jane Watson

"We knew it would be a very controversial thing to do," says Joe Quesada, Marvel's editor in chief, who believed so much in the project that he drew the crucial issues himself. "Looking into the future, this is really the right thing to do for the long-term health of the character."

Spider-Man, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1962, was a hit, connecting with young readers because he was a geeky teenager, shy with girls and uncertain of how to use his powers. But in 1987, Peter and Mary Jane, by then a fashion model, got married. Marvel had instant regrets.

"I remember editors and editors in chief lamenting that a married Spider-Man was not where we want to be," Quesada says. "A married Peter Parker makes for a less interesting soap opera than a single Peter Parker going about his nerdy kind of life."

Writers tried everything: The couple separated for a while. She miscarried. And in a much-criticized story line, Marvel tried to convince readers that Peter Parker had not gotten married, but his clone. That didn't stick, either. Then Quesada took over and insisted the marriage just couldn't continue.

"Nobody wants to read about a married Spider-Man," says Craig Shutt, a columnist for Comics Buyers Guide. "But in the short run, it's a terrible idea. It disrespects the readers by saying everything they read is wrong."

At DC Comics, Superman is married to Lois Lane, disrupting that title's long-standing tensions. DC declined to comment for this story.

Quesada is steadfast that for Spider-Man, the move is the right one: "Ultimately we have to do this to keep this character fresh for this generation and generations to come."

This issue will now go down in value.

:lol:Spider woman is always on some sneaky ass shit.

But these teams keep taking her flip-flopping ass.

All them niggas dumb:lol:

And I think Hawkeye is cool.

I really think his return is some kind of technicality.

He doesn't even know how he came back....

...So he a sleeper skrull, and as for jean grey that would be nice but how would they explain her giving Cyclops a telepathic push from the future to kiss the White Queen. then again they could just have him make a deal with Mephisto and bring back Her and Joseph, and Cyber, and ......

but they say EVERY major team in the marvel U has at least one so....

if that's the case....

X-men = emma

X-factor = Juggernaut

Avengers = Lindsey

Initiative training = i would say MVP but they got their own problems with him so i'm going to say Pym

Fantastic Four = Thing

New Avengers = Cages wife and child

The Order = pepper

Inhumans = black bolt already exposed

New Warriors = none

Rangers = Ghost rider

Exactly. Bitch ass Joe Q let his inner fanboy fuck up Spidey just when I was starting to really dig him. They did away with the organic webshooters and all of his enhancements from the Other story line including his stingers.

They always doing dumb shit with Spider Man. I was wondering when he was going to use his new powers. Now, I guess that will never happen. They could have developed his character without getting rid of MJ:

1) Kill off May, she's old. Plus her death would give way to a "darker" spider man. Make him kill somebody.

2) Give him some type of martial arts training. Every time he runs into a villain with super power, he gets the shit kicked out of him.

3) Add a new villain, that's what all other companies do.

4) If they really wanted to get rid of MJ, a divorce. The strain of May's death / constantly on the run / him being spider man etc...

5) Have him utilize his new powers. More than once.

I could go on, but the whole story line is retarded. Peter Parker has been a hero long enough to know: don't trust Mephisto. There's always a catch. But it won't last long, people will write enough letters and Quesedilla will change his tune again.

Spoiler:
Rick Jones is Red Hulk. Is it just me, or is this a medicore story?

Marvel is not putting out anything good excpet for the X-Men story line. That's pretty interesting, hopefully it won't fall flat like WWH.

DC has been writing a few great stories, specially the Sinestro War.

Enough ranting....

Thank you to all posters (Linker mostly), I get my fix weekly.
