Soooooooooooooo Superman is like Batman now? Intimidation and breaking bones if he feels like it? I'm also not feeling the fact that this is a restart but the characters are just being thrown at us with no build up. They expect us to remember what we know but forget everything we know at the same time. Maybe it's just me.

Its too early to tell which of the new DC book will be good or bad but Animal Man, Swampthing, Batgirl (ptsd batgirl is interesting even if they fucked up the killing joke), and Batman seem to have had the strongest starts. The most disappointing was Stormwatch just because it was confusing (though the possibility of Adam being the biblical version and black was dope). Also JLI wasn't great but I had really hoped Booster would have been the one Character who remembered the older DCU just because if there was a character who could handle it, it would be him :rolleyes:

I will still say they should of made these into an ultimate version universe like Marvel especially the meaner depowered Superman.

I'm still not understanding why they would think it's a good idea to disregard 50+ years of history.
You can't rebrand Superman or Batman, they are bigger than their comic book characters.

Seems like one of the worst ideas ever.

It's a bad idea because they are terminating and putting on hold many books that have nothing to do with their main universe in the hopes of getting their 'fans' to pick up a new book as a replacement.

I don't know about other state and such but if NYC already has the DC books from last week in the $1 box and STRANDS already has them for $1.50 each...there is a problem.

Edit - While the Superman/Action Comics book may be interesting...it's sort of too late IMO. I've seen that story line done in countless other indie books that took the Superman arch type and put it on it's ear. Having a superman character target the 'real villains' the captains of industry (kudos to superhero movie buffs that get that reference) but this will mesh how with Batman's role?

Beyond that I feel the real goal was probably to Depower Superman so writers can show that he can be in real danger and thus more interesting. If they can steal the heroic stuff from say Invincible (fighting style, power level of villians in regard to the hero) and make him a little more aware of society's ills (which makes sense since he is a reporter) he would be much more interesting. Yeah its been done before (and probably done better) but its still an upgrade for Superman to the casual reader who doesn't know any better.

Also I think superman guest starred in Men of War. They should expand on that story to show exactly why superman in particular needs to avoid armed conflicts between countries.

Not even that why introduce so many characters from the authority (especially Wildstorms alt Supes and Batman) with a planetary edge. If anything Why not touch on the weatherman/battalion stuff. Weatherman (Henry Bendix) was one of Wildstorms better villain creations and Battalion and Synergy would add a far better purpose of the team activating peoples powers to be secondary to stopping alien threats.

Also Manhunter is cool there I guess but how does Midnighter take him out with a sucker punch? come on that's Bullshit.

good point your absolutely right about alt supes an batman with Apollo an Midnighter i had totally for got about weatherman an battalion that would have made this a good book to see where they take it an a good one would be to see them take on supes since he is an alien. the manhunter getting caught with a nerve pinch they tripping even batman wouldn't take him out like that. im just so waiting to how lee brings his universe in. :smh:
