I cant agree with this at all. The purpose of the BLN is to make Death in comics real again. Sure Batman aint stayin dead, he's a cash cow. But Blackest night was only supposed to be 3 Books.
Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps and
Blackest Night mini.
Those stories will ALL be tight and cohesive.
DC editors saw a money motive since rebirth (Flash and Green Lantern) sold extremely well.
So they want to tie in of course. So the sub series books will be garbage, but the main 3 will have a tight focused story. They exist damn near in their own continuity, with only flash showing prominently.
Marvel really only has their cosmic books workin for them and select others. Dont get it twisted BLN is the shit. otherwise I wouldnt have made a thread for it. Some of the Other minis arent worth it so no mini thread for it.
Exactly liek I said the 3 main books are ALL you need to follow. Everything you need to know to be in the loop is in those three books.
The COMPANY is responsible FOR what they put out. As a collector you can pick and choose and say this was great but that does not absolve the COMPANY for producing an inferior product.
Case in point when someone views a film and says it was good movie except for the part where they fucked up. That entire film is fucked up.
So I understand you don't agree but that does not mean that the writing (for it all - no one gets a pass) is good.
People only use this argument when the tie-in fail. When tie-ins are good in the case of Annihilation...everyone then includes them in the discussion.
Blackest Night is poorly written period.
Blackest Night Superman is poorly written.
Because if this is your example then Civil War is a joke because of two different versions of Luke Cage they displayed.
Luke Cage is all for the registration act in Wolverine but in New Avengers he is willing to die not to sign?

Blackest Night is a great read and I'm not referring to the 50 minis because how often has any books offspring's been a good read?
Reason Sinestro Corps War was held such a triumph was because it was so small and contained.
I can read blackest night the main book and GL books and get the story all I need but once you branch out you get some pretty bad books.
You can't say Blackest Night has bad writing when their are 10 different writers. Now you can see the difference in GL GL Corps and Blackest Night cause of Johns

Civil War was trash.
Don't think I am some fanboy that adheres to a company logo like it's my mum tit.
I go for the stories that are worth reading. I am not a blind readers that pretends this and that has nothing to do with the main subject.
I can say BL has bad writing because it does. Plain and simple. You're have your thoughts but that does not excuse any of the bs the publish releases.
That is 100% correct and it goes for EVERY EVENT Marvel and DC has put out in the last 3-4 years.
If there are any wrestling fans you may see a similarity between Comics and Wrestling.
The WWE , WCW , ECW hit their peaks in the late 90's and every since then they had been trying to capture lightening twice.
Same with Marvel and DC. The early 90's had money just pouring in to these companies. And if they get a book that is selling they will spin off every character associated with it.
I never liked the way Marvel would have The Civil War series the have Civil war X-Men 1-3, Civil War Avengers 1-3, Civil War FF 1-3....ect
That's one of the reasons most of the secondary books are much more enjoyable. Suicide Squad/Secret Six is one of my Favorite books. They rarely interact with the main DC characters. So the writers are free to write better stories.
I think that goes for the Green Lanterns too. for a while they were doing their own thing and they didn't have to try and fit The Justice League, Batman or Superman into their stories.
