When they claim their island, it is not the origin of their race. Caribbean people rep their culture which is their way of life. How they grow and their values. Since they are born, all they see is black, so they don't get so pre-occupied with it.
You see how much is wrong with every single part of what you said right? Not their Island unless mixed with blood of the indigenous people from that island, that's like Blacks Claiming America as their culture but ignoring the actual culture that has been removed or warped. I've said it before on here, Africans were brought here but those who survived it generational-ly have become something "displaced mutated" altogether by surviving as all aspects of culture were lost and replaced with all aspects of indoctrination for the most part.
Jamaica has a town called Abekulan that was full of African slaves from Nigeria I believe and so THERE you see aspects of culture RETAINED to this day. There is a difference, chittlings ain't ever going to be culture, they simply the scraps slaves had to make due with, the fact that many blacks still eat it doesn't make it culture it makes it poor judgement, totally different concepts of culture and surviving captivity (Slaves have eaten far worse than chitterlings btw, worse creatures and more rancid meat at that, continuing to do so wouldn't make it culture. One is choice, one is lack of choices, either die or survive. We got whipped as slaves right and hung, boiled and all that, those "instruments" haven't become part of our culture even though millions felt that lash, so we can't pick and choose what we decide we call culture and what we don't.

English would not be our "culture" even though we all speak it, get my point? Many of the indigenous people are trying to reclaim their actual culture and languages and customs regardless of the indoctrination. Cuba was still recieving slaves into the 1900's and had entire towns full of African slaves such as Matanzas, the blackest part of Cuba still.
As late as 1930s there were still people speaking their African language in Cuba as opposed to Spanish. The African spirtiuality Yoruba/Lucumi/ Santeria was cemented in Cuba and Haiti and carried on and brought to mainland well after the slave trade hit North America and was ended.
BTW Matanzas means "slaughter" the name was given because many African and indigenous elders and priest were rounded up and slaughtered by the Spaniards before they learned to really hide their traditions and rituals. The word Matanzas is used to describe the killing of animals in the Lucumi ceremony to this day. Name also has roots in West Africa.
See the difference between Culture, Xmas day can go on for another 1000 years it will never be culture for us, simply something we have not the fortitude to ignore or replace with identifying celebratory things
