Wtf is this nigga talking about?

"Enslaved Africans first began being imported into Colombia by the Spaniards in the first decade of the 16th century. By the 1520s, Africans were being imported into Colombia steadily to replace the rapidly declining native American population. Africans were forced to work in gold mines, on sugar cane plantations, cattle ranches, and large haciendas. African labor was essential in all the regions of Colombia, even until modern times.

Slavery
was not abolished until 1851, and even after emancipation, the life of the African Colombians was very difficult. African Colombians were forced to live in jungle areas as a mechanism of self-protection. There, they learned to have a harmonious relationship with the jungle environment and to share the territory with Colombia's indigenous.

From 1851, the Colombian State promoted the ideology of mestizaje, or miscegenation. This whitening of the African population was an attempt by the Colombian government to minimize or, if possible, totally eliminate any traces of Black African or indigenous descent among the Criollos. So in order to maintain their cultural traditions, many Africans and indigenous peoples went deep into the isolated jungles. Afro-Colombians and indigenous people were, and continue to be, the targets of the armed actors who want to displace them in order to take their lands for sugar cane plantations, for coffee and banana plantations, for mining and wood exploitation."

Even though the above is from wiki, it is quite accurate. We need to remember that whitey programs EVERYBODY to believe Black people are inferior.

I was just asking, first one looked off to me, I assumed it was an "example" pic you just used not your hand. My bad.

Haitans and Jamicans dont consider themselves black either...

Are u saying every Haitian and every Jamaican?

Man, shut the hell up.

I have no idea where you heard that shit from. I'm Haitian and consider myself black

Maybe he meant "African", for instance people from Guyana since I was young didn't want nothing to do with being compared to Black Americans, so wonder what was sentiment about Africa.

Purely being sarcastic...but another poster alluded to Haitians and Jamaicans not considering themselves "Black Americans" very similar to the Africans saying the same thing; Plenty of Haitians are in atlanta, and they dont identify as black, they will say I am Haitian as if there is a difference; Black is Black no matter where you come from; The term is for people of color all over the world; Not just for "African Americans"...

I used to get real mad behind this kind of shit. But as I'm growing up I've figured some shit out..... it doesn't fucking matter. It really doesn't. If anything I'm sad for ppl that think like this. We're on a tiny planet spinning like 76,000 miles an hour around a giant star in a cold and fucking vast universe. Who gives a fuck? Folks with this kind of thought process are retards.... and not to be vain but every person I've ever seen/met in life with this mentality are the biggest fucking losers around, I hate to make value judgements but I'm better on every single front: Health/fitness, wealth, looks, education.... why would I let this make me mad? Nah.... it's just sad shit. For real

I argue this all the time when folks want to identify with an Island in Caribbean as their Origin and not their drop point and mix in WITH African but instead they somehow have the African removed and replaced with "some local blackness" that somehow isn't in anyway African. So I smh when folks talk about this separatist shit like it real different people and not just language and blood mixture addition.

BTW whoever said it, Mexico is in Central America not South. We be on some ignorant shit too.

When they claim their island, it is not the origin of their race. Caribbean people rep their culture which is their way of life. How they grow and their values. Since they are born, all they see is black, so they don't get so pre-occupied with it.

You see how much is wrong with every single part of what you said right? Not their Island unless mixed with blood of the indigenous people from that island, that's like Blacks Claiming America as their culture but ignoring the actual culture that has been removed or warped. I've said it before on here, Africans were brought here but those who survived it generational-ly have become something "displaced mutated" altogether by surviving as all aspects of culture were lost and replaced with all aspects of indoctrination for the most part.

Jamaica has a town called Abekulan that was full of African slaves from Nigeria I believe and so THERE you see aspects of culture RETAINED to this day. There is a difference, chittlings ain't ever going to be culture, they simply the scraps slaves had to make due with, the fact that many blacks still eat it doesn't make it culture it makes it poor judgement, totally different concepts of culture and surviving captivity (Slaves have eaten far worse than chitterlings btw, worse creatures and more rancid meat at that, continuing to do so wouldn't make it culture. One is choice, one is lack of choices, either die or survive. We got whipped as slaves right and hung, boiled and all that, those "instruments" haven't become part of our culture even though millions felt that lash, so we can't pick and choose what we decide we call culture and what we don't.

IMHO.

Color will never unite black people globally, its become quite clear.

Lots of these South Americans refer to themselves as Latinos first and Latinos second,as oppose to being black.

Insanity is it not, Latin is not even a people but a dead language yet even that is preferable than being anything "African" Respect to those who do hold to their ancestry in the onslaught of both mental and physical and social oppostion.

Fuck them mesicans

Since when is a gwala gwala black?

Foh
this right here to the 100th degree

I grew up around Puerto Rican n Dominicans we grew up as the same but when u venture out of certain Jersey towns its not the same

I'd never consider a Mexican or another south American country under it as black ppl don't care how dark their skin is

This is alot of words and it is too early to form a response. Will check back later

Color will never unite black people here in the US or anywhere else..It never has and never will.

There has never been unity so let's not act like it is only them

Mexico is in North America, doo doo man

Mexico and Belize are considered part of Central America, although America itself is only country that makes these "border" distinctions, the rest of the world simply calls continent "The Americas" As dumb as that name is.

Keeping immigrants out of America, meaning North America by your logic means this country has built a wall and is fanatical about keeping FELLOW North Americans out of North America.
See how retarded it is to consider Mexico in North America, if it not Central America and the US not claiming it then what is Mexico considered?

"doo-doo man" How old are you? .....................

English would not be our "culture" even though we all speak it, get my point? Many of the indigenous people are trying to reclaim their actual culture and languages and customs regardless of the indoctrination. Cuba was still recieving slaves into the 1900's and had entire towns full of African slaves such as Matanzas, the blackest part of Cuba still.

As late as 1930s there were still people speaking their African language in Cuba as opposed to Spanish. The African spirtiuality Yoruba/Lucumi/ Santeria was cemented in Cuba and Haiti and carried on and brought to mainland well after the slave trade hit North America and was ended.

BTW Matanzas means "slaughter" the name was given because many African and indigenous elders and priest were rounded up and slaughtered by the Spaniards before they learned to really hide their traditions and rituals. The word Matanzas is used to describe the killing of animals in the Lucumi ceremony to this day. Name also has roots in West Africa.

See the difference between Culture, Xmas day can go on for another 1000 years it will never be culture for us, simply something we have not the fortitude to ignore or replace with identifying celebratory things

Jamaicans don't consider themselves black??? U ever been on the streets of Jamaica? U dumb fuck. That's why half the Cats on this board have very little credibility. They just say whatever they want and make generalized assumptions based on bs.

I understand that, since historical Africans were all black color was never a tool needed for unity.
what united them were family name, tribal pride, spiritual beliefs etc...

fast forward a few centuries color is the one common demonator that we use in the face of oppression/white supremacy since our culture has been lost on use...as in language, diet, spirituality, family name etc...

but its definitely an up hill battle and will always seem to be for reasons i posted in my previous post amongst others.
