I've never had a student loan before, never realized it was this bad:smh::smh:

I'm assuming there's no penalty for early repayment, couldn't you throw in a extra $25 or a month and bring that down a whole lot?

What the fuck happened that shes still paying off a loan. That she has already paid back the original amount and more? And still owes.

Interest is a bitch! I paid mine off early. Then let my employer pay for my MBA.

Her situation probably went south with a few deferments and/or forbearances. Interest will still accrue and capitalize in these circumstances given unsubsidized/subsidized loan balances. Hell, if she took out private loans and got a jacked up rate, it wouldn't take much to balloon.

Yep. These two right here will fuck you with the quickness, and they make forbearances so easy. I had a friend that had her debt pushed into the mid six figures fucking with forbearances (she used to live on them shits) and I don't even think the total amout she borrowed was more than $80 thousand.

Federal loans a FUCK YOU UP!!! I went to ITT .. two quarters. 4k loan turned into a 10k after I defaulted. Couldn't even go back to college until I got out of default. :smh:

I got on their rehabilitation plan. That goes nowhere fast! :smh:

I know this isn't a strictly black/white issue, however, two things that piss me off about this-

1) She's paid an average of $118 per month for 23 years.. :smh: Like someone said, she probably has had several deferments and/or forbearances- I would imagine that a white woman with a college degree should be able to secure employment that would allow her to have paid the original loan off much more quickly. These folks are getting into via their degrees, education and subsequent employment opportunities, a better life than most .. and are complaining that they have to pay for that?

2) This shit bothers me that there are people crying about the whole student loan interest issue, and that white folks, when they are upset or galvanized into action- simply appropriate the moral authority and high ground: (ie: It's wrong because we are affected by this and just because we say it is)... and the media goes "all in".

Examples: unemployment, drugs, predatory lending aren't problems until they start affecting the lives of white folks, who then jump up and scream about these injustices and insist "something HAS to be done"....

while simultaneously...

there are systems in place that (I.M.O) try to limit (or at least hinder) the achievement and advancement of black people, often deterring us from even getting IN to higher education.

Colin version- This bitch has been partying all night and now at 2am is crying about the price of drinks at a party that most of me and mine aren't even able to attend. Then, just because she says it's too high wants the management to lower or outright forgive her bill.

Not at all. She made a horrible choice to take a 30 year loan for that amount. I graduated around the same time and paid off my student loans in 10 years. I also owed school $10,000 that had to be paid off in 2 years before I could receive my diploma. I just made paying off my debt a priority.

I'm on the fence with this one. I really don't think the problem is the student loans. I think the problem is the cost of tuition. That's who these people should be protesting. The Universities not the people that loan you the money to go to these overpriced schools. These student loan protesters remind me of musicians whining over getting screwed by their label when they knew what they were getting into and I'll bet if they had the chance to do it all over again and choose a bad contract or working at Burger King they make the exact same decision. These students have agreed to the terms of a contract that would lend them the money to get the degree of their choice which will open doors for them all over this country and allow them earn the kind of living that separates them from the masses and they still complaining.

So she borrowed 20k and couldn't pay that off in 3 years or less? Was she working at McDonald's?

23 years to pay of 26k..wtf?...what a dumb bitch...now she wants to attention whore and attempt to make people feel sorry for her,...LMFAO...i have 400 bucks left on my school loan...can't wait to pay that shit off

That is the key right there. In fact, people are doing this so much companies are starting to change their tuition assistance programs. The company I work for had a 100% tuition payment program but now is limiting it to $10,000 per year. Employees were enrolling in $100,000+ masters programs at top tier schools.

If you have an opportunity to have your job help you with school, jump on it.

She's been paying on the equivalent of a mid-sized priced car for 23 years? Cry me a river. Her degree should be null and void for her stupidity.

I don't see how she could have been faithfully paying for 23 years and end up with a loan balance almost equal to the principal and paid amount. Yeah that balance can balloon if you take forbearances and deferments

Okay soooo why even fill out a Fasfa if you didn't need/want any gubberment assistance??

That's what I was gonna say. If you don't want a Pell Grant why the hell even fill out a Fafsa?

That's like going to Wal-Mart putting a bunch of shit in a shopping cart and then putting everything back on the shelves and going back home.

In regards to the pictures....that shit looks like a ad for a site. So i'm sure they could've very well exaggerated some.

how does her ass & tits look?

i'm sure there's a pole she can find to dance with, RIGHT NOW.

:hmm:

plus, she born with a money maker btw her legs and talks with one too. :hmm:

I paid off my loans in a year, this shit happens to lazy people that want to pay some bullshit $50 a month and think they're putting a dent in those loans......I feel no sympathy for people who go to college and are still stupid enough to drag out their debts. :hmm:

when my kids goto college their shit will be paid ahead of time, every semester.

I said I didn't get it, not that I turned it down.

Financial aid wouldn't process my application because I didn't have my mother's financial info (we wasn't talking, still not) for dependent status, nor was I eligible for independent status because "I was not 24 or older & didn't have a child".

I'm still resentful about that, because I really needed help. I was out there breaking the law to make rent & feed myself, going to school with niggas getting a refund check of a few G's buying rims, system for their car, buying lil brother Jordans, clothes.

A lil support goes a long way. It's all good, I hustled my way up. Just try not to look back.
