CNN Special: Hip Hop: Art or Poison?

Aint nothin wrong with hip-hop. You just gotta find the music you wanna listen too. Dont listen to mainstream if you dont want to. I dont except for certain songs, most of the shit I listen to dont sell worth shit on the mainstream level but I dont care cuz I like it.

Fuck HIP HOP!

That is a wasted show and this is a wasted thread.

They need to make a show on how they boycotted P.E.
and marketed the hell out of N.W.A. which is around
the time the shit started to crumble.

Jews did that shit.

Jews own hip hop now...they just employ niggas as
workers.

Work for hire Bullshit artists. :smh:

like how CLINTON, the man y'all love and promote was responsible for Sistah Souljah being banished from the ART but she never rose like the Dixie Chicks on 'similar' shit :smh:

so much duplicated sounds now. nothing seems fresh besides true artists with love for music over the money and haven't sold completely out for ice :puke:

they act like hip hop is the only thing showing women in bikinis....

i see a white woman in a binkinis everytime a budweiser commercial comes on

The double-standard was getting on my nerves. Like Hip-Hop is the only form of expression that glorifes violence. I can name numerous video games and movies that are popular and they do the same thing...just through a different medium. I don't see CNN getting on Hollywood directors for glorifying the Italian Mafia in the dozens on mob flicks there are out there.

If they really felt it was hip hop related they would take the shit off the shelves.

Its just another chance to point the finger at niggas.

REAL TALK..

American culture is filled w/ messages of misogyny, avarice, violence, debauchery. How the fuck you gonna single hip-hop which has only been around for about the past 15 year in this form.

Dayum near every "gangsta" worships Scarface.

THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!

I'm so sick of ppl bitchin' about #1 how hip-hop is dead and # 2 how rap music has changed for the worst. First off can we agree that "HIP-HOP" is the culture. Within that culture lies positivity and negativity just like any other culture. "RAP" music is the 'soundtrack' generated from hip-hop culture. Just like any young devolping nation ; hip-hop culture has had its up and down swings. We are still talking about a relatively young nation. We've had our great war, our great depression, our time of cultural development , our time for economic expansion....etc. We are exactly where we need to be in terms of history. Any young nation needs time to develop into what they will become. Stop trying to close the books on a story that is not even arrived at the middle passages. Quit band-wagoning every "John Q. Nay-Sayer" who #1 dont live and breathe this culture and #2 cant find anything redeemable to say about 'our-thing'. This culture will stand. It will grow. Shit, it will out-grow some of you. No matter what you think or whatever conclusions you draw , HIP-HOP will continue to exist with or without your suppport. Why shouldnt we want that?

There are a grip of hiphop artist out there that are spitting out intelligent or atleast meaningful shit but those aren't the ones getting played, the real question is "why is only the garbage rap getting consumed by america"

You're right! There's some excellent hip-hop music and efforts going on out there but unfortunately the white controlled media has taken over the "hip-hop brand". They're putting out crap that manipulates peoples ways of thinking about us. People around the world "know" everything about black people via the so called hip-hop crap being pumped on MTV. Now you got chinese mofos calling each other "my nigg*".

Hip-hop may not be dead, but maybe it needs to die, at least in the popular media.

I know its a art, when im sitting there and watching my lil brotha do his thing, im like this the art of making music, and it amazing

Far as the time line, i think that around the let have fun time,
thats when people could say its a poison over a art.

Hip Hop is sumthing that white thought was going to fall,
so when it didnt thats when it became a poison cause,
they put their hands in it. Just like with Fiddy and Cam
they on the phone talking but old white boy sitting at the desk
feeling real good.
