My notes

Another psycho-sexual masterpiece from director Joe Sarno.

Although the French-dubbed version is enjoyable, I was very happy to find this English version. Not only because the film has a real plot and an interesting story, but because the French version is missing 15 minutes with some significant scenes cut that are important to the development of the story.

Jennifer Welles and Rebecca Brooke -- who play mother and daughter -- are two of the sexiest and also two of the best actresses that ever did porn. This film is unusual in the way it explores the mother-daughter relationship in all its complexity, made even more complex by the sexual revolution that took place shortly before this film was made.

There is a good mix of eroticism, humor and psychological drama. You really have to be paying attention to catch the subtleties of the plot. There are some bits of dialogue that may seem like throwaway lines but are actually integral to the story. I had to watch it twice to catch some of the important plot points.

Although this version is softcore, it is still very erotic. I've watched the film with and without the hardcore inserts, and IMHO it's just as good if not better without them. Sarno was a master of softcore eroticism, and some of his best work and hottest sex scenes were shot soft, without visible penetration or oral-genital contact. You know it's happening without needing to see it explicitly.

Apparently the Retro Seduction Cinema DVD release runs only 72 min. IMDb lists the theatrical running time as 105 min, i.e. 1 hr. 45 min. Sceeper (see below) confirms that there is a VHS release of 105 min.

If anyone has a longer version, please share it!

This is my own rip from the Hollywood Video DVD, encoded to XviD at high quality settings.

The image quality on the DVD was okay, but not great. I cleaned it up with mocomped noise reduction filters and mild sharpening, which helped a lot, but the picture is still quite soft, and the colors a bit muted.

My notes

An early film for many of the actresses who appear, in fact all got their start around this time or at most a year or two earlier.

Janey is the newest gal hired at a drapes factory which is run by obnoxious Ron Jeremy, who makes all his female employees wear "uniforms" consisting of hot pants and tank tops (very short pants and sleeveless, low cut shirts, for our non-American friends). The girls don't seem to do much actual work, but they are free to have lots of sex on the job -- with each other and with any males who they can get their hands on! Turns out that fellow employee Tom Byron often hides and takes photos of the gals having sex, and the boss is making a lot of money selling the X-rated photos to Japanese clients.

I won't spoil the whole plot, but let's just say that the gals find a way to get even, and although the entire premise is quite silly, there's plenty of hot sex with gorgeous young starlets, and you might even get a few laughs out of it, too.

This is an example of a low budget film that works. Production values are lacking, but the cast is clearly having a good time and the energy of the film is upbeat. One example of just how low budget this film is: 65 minutes into the film, there is a noticeable change in the "look" of the image: the colors suddenly get brighter and the image is a little sharper (you can see this is the screencaps), almost as though they switched to a different type of film -- Fuji to Kodak?

Janey Robbins is a personal fave, and it's a treat to see her in such an early film (possibly her first). She looks as hot in her business suit as she does in the hot pants and tank top. This is before Janey got the big tattoo on her right shoulder (her picture at iafd is reversed, a mirror image, btw) -- but she already has the little tattoo on her lower belly, which you can see if you look carefully. There were very, very few pornstars with any tattoos in the early 80s. The French actress Morgane is one, and I know there were a few others, though I can't picture them. Can any of you think of others?

Janey's only slightly awkward in the beginning, but her awkwardness fits the role she's playing quite well, and she gains confidence as the film progresses. One thing I will say that was a bit disappointing is, you may notice during her sex scenes that while she's screwing, she holds her breasts nearly the entire time -- I think she may be hiding the incision scars from her boob job, which i've seen in other pictures of her. Her torpedo tits are pretty amazing, but thankfully they don't look nearly as fake as many of today's pornstars do.

This film was my first real taste of Mona Page (other than her small part in Nurses of the 407th) and she is so hot, that I went looking for more of her. I found her two Golden Girls loops from 1982 and '83 -- made shortly before this film -- which are in reachman's Golden Girls thread. Mona also had a couple of scenes in Naughty Girls Need Love Too (1983) which is here:

Cara Lott plays her usual bimbo role, the dumb blonde who is the butt of many jokes. And yet she has no trouble seducing the water delivery boy in front of her coworkers. Cara was much smarter than she appeared in many of her films, and I recently got to see her in the bisexual classic Bi-Coastal -- uploaded recently at TnA by hatcat -- in which Cara shows some real acting talent and intelligence. She is one of the few actresses who I find very sexy with short hair.
