I also agree get the best person for the job period, but the rest of the you must vote crowd doesn't agree with you. When they say you must vote they mean you must vote so more people of color will have positions as if that alone some how is going to change our status in this country simply because more black folk are in office.

So let me get this straight, y'all are celebrating the failure of black leadership? Are you also of the mind that blacks shouldn't hold office or even be allowed to vote because we can't choose wisely? Of the same mind that slavery was good for us because we need someone to lead and guide us? Does this mean that even though most of the folks around here believe white folks are racist, that that is who we need to elect and be led by? At this point should I be dismissing anyone black who seeks to be in leadership or an authority?
We have all sorts of mediocre white folks running things and messing up cities and states foe decades. Normally, unless it is a powerful black family with a long history who may or may not be corrupt, black folks are vetted way more than anyone else and you don't rise to a leadership position unless you are 10x better than the white folks around you. If the ones who were voted in are trash, vote them out. At some point the citizens have to take responsibility for who they put in charge.
I don't know the situation in this city, but the reactions here where y'all so gleeful about it is very disturbing and reeks of WS propaganda. Failure comes in all shades, only black folks are walking around with the baggage that if one of us messes up there will never be another black xyz ever. White folks fail as individuals, we fail and it reflects on the whole group. I expect this type of sentiment from white folks but y'all some sad, sorry fuccas.

Over the past 50 years they could have made some kind of effort to reach out, to talk, to discuss things. With us but also with their current base. Even if it was just pandering to a degree to get our votes.

I told this story before, but when I lived in Macon, I lived on the north side (8th district), which wasn't exactly "the hood". Anyway, we encountered an issue that we needed help with and we reached out to Austin Scott, who's the rep for that district. Less than 24 hours later, his personal aide called and asked my wife to explain in detail what the problem was. A few days after that, the problem was fixed, and then he called personally on some "Is there anything else I can help you with?" type shit. Now, to be fair, maybe he thought we were white, because of the neighborhood we lived in, I don't give a fuck, dude did what he was elected to do...his fucking job! When we moved back to my beloved ATL, we had to go back to Macon to vote, because of the timing of our move, and you can bet your ass I voted for that "Republican cac". He's the only Republican I've ever voted for. Again, fuck yo' skin color, whatchu gon' do for me and mine?
I thought we were having honest discussions but, he at least, has a hidden agenda that wasn't voiced until the other day. All this time we've been dealing with Snowball, Pinky and the Brain, and his plan to take over the world will have about as much success as theirs did.
