The "Role" of Govt?

Ordinance #2740( An unfunded city-wide mandate) was passed with a resounding 6 to 1 vote, and it allows for the citizens of Cedar Falls to forcefully give the government keys to their comercial properties through universal 'lock boxes'. The intent of the program is to provide increased safety and protection to personal, private property which include businesses, apartments and some rental houses-- which by the way-- comes at the expense of furthering wayward erosion of fundamental constitutional rights.

The plights and concerns of the citizens have fallen on deaf ears as the City of Cedar Falls has voted to pass the final ruling on mandatory lock boxes, again, with a 6-1 decision. Read More

Interesting, but not as bizarre, Lemarr, as you've made it sound.

I don't believe that the lock boxes relate to keys to any individual's apartment, home or other personal spaces -- but only to those spaces that, in an emergency, the fire department needs to access quickly to fight the fire.

Practically speaking, if there was a warehouse in close proximity to your apartment building; a fire erupted in that warehouse; and fire fighters had no easy access, the same could consume your (individual) apartment and what would likely be the uninsured goods therein as well as the entire apartment building. In either case, you, the other apartment denizens and the apartment complex owner could be saved quite a bit of hardship, had the fire department had lock-box key access to enter the warehouse.

Of course, the apartment building could be insured (but that wouldn't provide coverage for your personal goods, personal injury or death or the possible injury or loss of life among the firemen who must struggle with access while the fire rages. On the other hand, the warehouse "might" be insured but its possible that even if it is, the policy max could easily be surpassed leaving uninsured loses to property and life.

Maybe lock-box access makes sense, after all ???

uh not for nothing but those in the know, know too many firemen are some of the biggest fuckin theives to ever walk the face of the earth....
