Does any one know of any really good learning vids for young children?

We already have Baby Can Read, Brainy Baby, Baby Einstein and a whole lotta Sesame street. Just wondering if any one knows of any other ones. Thanks

If you have all those, what do you need more for?

Never had one myself. I didn't need my kid to read at 2, didn't see the point, still don't but that's me.

Because children do get bored sometimes ..........and these vids aren't necessarily just for babies it also helps younger children who have had difficulties learning what we take for granted. This has nothing to do with NEEDing a child to READ at two its being able to provide a tool to help keep their brains active as that is the point in life when they soak up a LOT of info. This in conjunction with reading to the child plus regular "child's" play. And seeing that every child is not born the same there are times when due to circumstances one must utilize any method one can to ensure the child's success.

Okay.

You're right they do get bored. Mine had figured something out. Me and the wife are were not responsible for his entertainment. As I told him "Do we look like clowns to you, little boy?":D

Schoolhouse Rock is an old one but a good one! My Fav... Conjunction Junction:yes:

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up words and phrases and clauses.
Conjunction Junction, how's that function?
I got three favorite cars
That get most of my job done.
Conjunction Junction, what's their function?
I got "and", "but", and "or",
They'll get you pretty far.

[spoken] "And":
That's an additive, like "this and that".
"But":
That's sort of the opposite,
"Not this but that".
And then there's "or":
O-R, when you have a choice like
"This or that".
"And", "but", and "or",
Get you pretty far.

[sung] Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up two boxcars and making 'em run right.
Milk and honey, bread and butter, peas and rice.
Hey that's nice!
Dirty but happy, digging and scratching,
Losing your shoe and a button or two.
He's poor but honest, sad but true,
Boo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up two cars to one
When you say something like this choice:
"Either now or later"
Or no choice:
"Neither now nor ever"
Hey that's clever!
Eat this or that, grow thin or fat,
Never mind, I wouldn't do that,
I'm fat enough now!

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up phrases and clauses that balance, like:
Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
He cut loose the sandbags,
But the balloon wouldn't go any higher.
Let's go up to the mountains,
Or down to the seas.
You should always say "thank you",
Or at least say "please".

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up words and phrases and clauses
In complex sentences like:
[spoken] In the mornings, when I'm usually wide awake, I love to take a walk through the gardens and down by the lake, where I often see a duck and a drake, and I wonder, as I walk by, just what they'd say if they could speak, although I know that's an absurd thought.

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up cars and making 'em function.
Conjunction Junction, how's that function?
I like tying up words and phrases and clauses.
Conjunction Junction, watch that function.
I'm going to get you there if you're very careful.
Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
I'm going to get you there if you're very careful.

I'm going to get you there if you're very careful.

Dave I can tell you from personal experience the sooner you can get children learning the better and yes that includes reading. My child went from kindergarten to the 2nd grade her first year in school.

I got her on the computer once she started formulating sentences. It makes a huge difference.

@ Lick.....never heard of Schoolhouse Rock will check it out.

@ MO......Well you know something is going the right direction when a child is saying the alphabet and counting to 10 before they reach 2yrs especially with the struggles they first started out with. To each their own though I know that for us and the kids the more that you can teach them now the easier it is for them to transition when they reach school age.

How many parents on this board read to their kids??? How important is it to you? Do you think that they benefit from it? How do you keep them interested?

LadyS, Schoolhouse Rock is from the late 60s and early 70s. It was a series of short cartoons that explained subjects like verbs, nouns, the multiplication tables, how a bill becomes law things of that nature. You probably can find a few on YouTube. Nothing is structured there I would only show them for entertainment.
