Child dies on world's tallest water slide

Fuck all that!

I been to great America a few times....year ago....
These are some of the ones I got on:

(this one was right near the entrance)

On that one made out of wood, I rememeber the shit rocking like crazy and my head hitting the sides of the seat.
The adren rush can feel good sometimes, but im honestly not a fan of roller coasters.

Good ol Six Flags in Gurnee IL? Been there bout 30 times since its only like 50 min from the Mil. Shit got old after a while. Iron Wolf was my shit back in the day. Shock Wave too. Best one to me still was Raging Bull. And that raggity American Eagle is gonna collapse any day now. I got a headache every time I went on that bitch.

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — Fire officials say several bystanders held up a kiddie roller coaster that had begun to collapse in Georgia, allowing six children and one adult to escape.

Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner spokesman Glenn Allen says the group held the Oriental Express roller coaster in place Thursday evening until wood or cement blocks could be put in place to stabilize it.

A video posted on social media shows more than a dozen people holding up the coaster at the Bartow County Fair in Cartersville.

Allen says there were no injuries, and a track malfunction is likely what caused the accident. The ride’s been dismantled.

Allen says Florida-based company Carol Stream operated the fair’s rides. The company did not immediately respond to a phone call.

Horror At The Amusement Park: 13 Gruesome Roller-Coaster Deaths

1. Deadliest Roller-Coaster Accident In World History: 5 Children Dead On England’s “Big Dipper” Wooden Roller Coaster, 1972.

England’s Battersea Park Fun Fair had been operating for 20 years with the creaky old wooden coaster the “Big Dipper” its main attraction until one day in late May 1972 when the rope that carries cars to the top of a hill snapped, sending several cars careening backward and ultimately crushing five children to death. Thirteen others were injured. The Big Dipper was shut down, and the park followed suit two years later.

What about the time Superman defeated that girl at six flags.

MEMPHIS - The Moonraker is still out of service at the Delta Fair after an accident sent seven riders, including five children, to the hospital.

Officials are apologizing for the mishap, which they said was caused when the ride operator pressed the wrong button.

“This is unacceptable to the Delta fair and we apologize it happened,” Director of Safety and Emergency Services Matt Snyder said. “We expect everyone to come out here with the expectation of having a good time and being safe.”

A county code enforcement inspector and a National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials inspector both checked out the ride Sunday. A computer feature allowing the operator to release the safety belts while the ride is moving has now been disabled.

“We're having all of BCA's rides inspected,” Snyder said. “Or any ride of that era that might have that type of computer programming.”

As the Moonraker was moving, the safety belts were released. Some people held on, while others fell or slid out of their seats. No riders ever physically fell off the ride, but fell into a middle section, where they hit metal bars.

Some riders suffered extensive injuries.

“One with a fractured leg, one with a fractured wrist, and one with a fractured collar bone,” Snyder said. “It doesn't matter if it's a bruise or a scrape, it's unacceptable.”

Fair officials originally downplayed the incident, because onsite EMS workers said there were no visible injuries. It wasn’t until riders got to the hospital that they learned how badly they were hurt.

They released the following statement, apologizing for the dismissal of injuries:

Yesterday's incidents were very unfortunate and we are grateful that the injuries that did occur were minor in nature and no one was seriously hurt. Our apologies and condolences go out to the individuals on the ride involved, and also to everyone that was under the impression that we were trying to mislead you.

We released the statement on our Facebook Page at 4 p.m. on Saturday. It was not until later last night around 10 or 11 p.m. that we were told about the individuals at the hospital that indeed did have injuries. In no way were our intentions to mislead or lie to anyone and certainly do not want to come across that way.

Here at the Delta Fair & Music Festival, we have tried to be honest and present a track record of being forthright and honest with the public in our 10 year history. We are going to go above and beyond to make sure that this does not occur again. The 2016 Delta Fair and Music Festival will continue to be open until September 11th and we want to welcome everyone to come out for a familyfriendly, safe environment at the fair.
Even with the mistake Saturday, fair goers were still riding the rides. Many, however, said they won’t be lining up to go on the Moonraker.

The ride will have to pass another inspection from the State of Tennessee, Shelby County Code Enforcement, and Matt Snyder.

Amusement parks are a muthafucka. Been on some small rides as a kid/teen when even then you felt like you were going to fall out @ considerable speed. Scares the shit out of you cuz ain't a good look bouncing off of pavement with large crowds around & plenty of honeys with cleavage and ass cheeks on full display.

ROME, Ga. -- A fair ride malfunction in northwest Georgia left two young children dangling 30 feet above the ground on Wednesday.

And while no one was hurt, the ride incident left lots of frayed nerves.

Tony Cooper says that while his family was at the Coosa Valley Fair in Rome, Ga., a ride called “The Zipper” malfunctioned. The force of the problem flung the door of the ride car open, and jarred loose the harness holding in Cooper’s 13-year-old son Brayden.

Cooper said Brayden was able to grab the harness and hold on, which kept him from falling from the ride to the ground below.

Cooper’s young niece Gracie was still strapped into the ride car, but was hanging, face down as Brayden held on until ride technicians could bring the two safely to the ground.

Cooper took his family to the first aid tent as a precaution and said staff members apologized for what happened. He told 11Alive’s Joe Henke that he wants to make sure this type of accident does not happen to another rider or family.

The Exchange Club of Rome organizes the Coosa Valley Fair and Wade Shows operates the rides for the fair. The ride has been closed since the incident.

Staff members told 11Alive News they were waiting for a representative from the ride’s manufacturer to arrive from Florida to inspect it, but said that the person had been delayed by Hurricane Matthew.

It is not clear as to whether or not the ride will be inspected and reopened before the fair ends its run this weekend.

Busch Gardens Closes Ride After Fatal Accident in Australia

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay in Florida has decided to close a river rapids ride after four people were killed on a similar water ride at an amusement park in Australia.

News outlets report Busch Gardens officials say the Congo River Rapids ride was shut down Tuesday "out of an abundance of caution" while they work to understand what happened in Australia.

Officials there say two men and two women died while on the Thunder River Rapids ride after it malfunctioned at Dreamworld, a popular theme park on Queensland's Gold Coast.

The Thunder River Rapids ride, which Busch Gardens officials say is similar to the Congo River Rapids ride, whisks riders in circular rafts along a fast-moving, man-made river, with a conveyor belt helping move the rafts through the water.

one of the problems with this company is the lack of professional ride design. It’s my understanding from another death that they just make rides they think are cool without much research at all.

I've got to be the lamest mofo, cause no way am I paying a park to get on a ride to scare the shit out of myself. I don't do roller coasters or any type of crazyness like that. I'm good. I have no death wish, some crazy CAC shit to me.
I never thought of it that way.

Not true in the major ride manufacturing companies. They do engineer and use computer models for the major rides they sell - they license them and collect fees for their placement. Back in the day though, parks like Action Park in NJ when Theme parks were first becoming "a thing". The owner would design and build the rides himself with no formal training. Google Action Park deaths and injuries - there's quite a few vids on it on youtube.

In a rush to build the world’s tallest water slide, the operators of a Kansas park glossed over their own findings that the nearly 170-foot-tall ride had major design flaws, skirted basic engineering standards and sent riders airborne in a way that could injure or kill them, investigators said.

Yet the operators of Schlitterbahn Waterpark of Kansas City, Kan., opened the ride, Verrückt, in July 2014 — only 20 months from its conception to grand opening.

At least 14 riders were injured on the slide in a string of accidents that culminated in August 2016, when a 10-year-old boy was tossed off a raft and decapitated when he hit a metal pole.

In an indictment unsealed last week, the authorities said top Schlitterbahn officials knew that the slide, which closed after the boy’s death, posed serious dangers for riders

I'm talking ride production companies particularly.

Welp. Here's what I know.

Dirty secret of the TPI (Theme Park Industry) Most rides fail safety checks and are allowed to run anyway. Why? People spend money and they expect to ride, so fuck it. Unless you are getting red all across the board they'll let 'em run anyway. That's called acceptable systems failure in many cases.

Remember when I told ya'll about the systems being red a few years back? This is what I meant. This just happened
