An all-Mexican showdown between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31KOs) and Antonio Margarito (38-8, 27KOs)? The fight is possible, according to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum. First, several things would need to happen.

Chavez would have to get past his most dangerous test, Marco Antonio Rubio, on February 4th in San Antonio, Texas. Top Rank is interested in a July fight between Chavez and WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico. But, if Cotto is selected for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao on June 9th - then Margarito is a possible opponent.

Another possible opponent for Chavez is Australian star Anthony Mundine (43-4, 35KOs), a former champion at 160, 168 and the current WBA interim-champion at 154. Mundine recently traveled to Las Vegas and sat down with Top Rank to discuss a future working relationship.

"If we can't do Cotto, we could do Antonio Margarito. That's a possibility. There is also Mundine, who brings a lot to the table with the Australian TV," Arum told BoxingScene.com.

Personally, idk if Chavez will get past Rubio. Rubio outboxed and then beat up and stopped Lemieux who is another big, heavy punching, not-fighting-anyone-with-a-pulse type of prospect. Rubio could be a serious problem for Chavez.

that is true... but if he does win... I'll bet everything I have that Margarito is in his future.
