I believe the OP is saying that talent is latent ability while skills are honed. You can be highly talented, meaning that you have either the physical or intellectual ability to perform a series of complex functions easier than the average.

The LeBron / Melo example fits. Physically, LeBron is more talented than Carmelo, meaning he has the ability to perform more basketball skills at an elite level than Carmelo, however, regarding offense, Carmelo's skills are more honed than LeBron's. Melo is an elite scorer, average defender, above average BBIQ, above average athleticism. LeBron is a class below offensively, but elite level every other intangible.

With all that said, I patently disagree about Blake. His BBIQ is average, his offensive ability also. His handles are surprisingly strong for a guy his size, but in 5 years when he's knees go, he is a lesser Amar'e because at least Amar'e had an automatic jimmy.
