Chaka Zulu (Ludacris' Manager) Charged with murder!

Regarding both of the above replies, it appears as though Chaka approached the man/ group and initiated the confrontation by getting in his face. What happened prior to what we see on video, and how it impacted his decision to approach the man/ group will matter.

It appears Chaka knew the man/ group could be violent, and they were. What will matter is how the story is told and what is emphasized. This one could go either way, but if i'm Chaka i'm not liking my chances. If Chaka didn't leave the safety of the venue it could be argued this wouldn't have happened. If Chaka didn't have a gun, it could be argued, Chaka could have been beaten to death (certainly what his legal team will allege).

Chaka could've walked away after he got jumped, however he has the right to stand his ground (correct me if i'm wrong). Chaka was shot in the back... something, for whatever reason even give that he just shot someone, I have a problem with (not sure why this is bothering me but it is).

Chaka was in the parking lot walking back to the restaurant. Dude in the yellow blocked his path back to the club, his place of business. At this point the verbal dispute is whats going to make or break this case. No one is talking about big dude who shot Chaka and if legally was able to possess and fire that weapon.

Fair point. When I rewatched the video I realized the building in frame was not the restaurant but another structure. Initially I assumed- not being familiar with the location- that he was walking away from his place of business. It does change the orientation a bit but i'm not sure it changes it enough. As you say, the verbal dispute will determine... and Chaka did lay hands first so that could be very problematic.

I think Chaka will be fine. The young folk should have left and filed a complaint against the establishment for the $25. They chose to fight a man over $25. They could have easily just went home and forgot about the money. However, they decided to hunt the man down and then assault and batter him. It is obvious he was still in danger he was shot in the back. Sometimes you gotta just take the loss. More than likely, Shaka will get off.

Young folks should've left but they were young and felt slighted. Making matters worse the young man who died seemed to be an upstanding young man with a bright future... and he was unarmed. This is a loose loose in my opinion. If Chaka gets off a young brother is still dead. If Chaka doesn't get off a young brother is still dead and Chaka is in jail for the next 10 hi earning years.

Big man who shot Chaka in the back muddies the water quite a bit, imo (i definitely feel some kind of way), but Chaka pulled out first and perhaps if he didn't everyone lives to see another day. Loose loose no matter how you slice it. I still think Chaka is in big Trouble... but we'll see.

The full video sheds more light. Dude that shot Chaka is on the run.

Video was informative.

"Get a good lawyer, like Jonny Cochran, swear to tell the truth, Hell no I didn't pop him."

His defense is competent and the press conference was effective. If their version is accepted Chaka will get off and be issued an apology. Dude who shot Chaka in the back has got some explaining to do (when they catch him).

Well..Couldn't he make a case for self defense since he only fired after Chaka shot other dude?

Let's slow down for a bit brother Lattimore.
An important piece of this puzzle is the dialogue.
We do not know what was being said.
Adding that to the equation can change a whole damn lot.
People are acting and we are making judgements but the words play an important role.

Let's see how we feel when we find out what is being said.

Words matter, true. If- as Chaka's lawyers stated (which they also claim can be corroborated by witness testimony)- Chaka told the young man whom he first encountered, not to pull out a weapon (bc he saw him reaching) it will make a significant difference in his favor. I realize this is all putting the cart b4 the horse.

Shot him in the back... I have a problem with that. Could be it's considered self defense and the problem I have could be irrational and personal. Seems if that were the case he'd turn himself in... although i'm not certain he's been charged with anything so theres nothing to turn himself in over.

That reaching is Mr. Zulu's best chance for acquittal. And I agree with Tent and yourself. This whole thing hinges on what was said in that initial contact.

One issue I have is after their homie got shot why didn’t the homies stay on the scene? They all saw their boy get shot and calmly walked off once the smoke cleared. The initial instigator even picked up his hat before he checked on his young boy who he saw get shot. That’s some flat leaving bullshit right there. We also need to hear the initial exchange.

It looks complicated.
And... Fighting something in the court of law is vastly different than the court of public opinion. The prosecutors sole purpose at this point is to do everything they can do to win the case and put Chaka in prison regardless of whether or not he guilty or innocent. He is lucky he got bond.

When you are on the other side of an assistant state attorney's crosshairs, it won't be a walk in the park. It appears he has good counsel though.

This is a rough one.

It's been said that the guy that Chaka grabbed said that he had a gun. Chaka said that he was reaching for it so Chaka put hands on him first to stop him from grabbing it.

Then he pushed him against the car and the guy's friends jumped Chaka. They jumped Chaka and one guy punched a girl that was fighting them to get them off of Chaka.

Now the shooting.

At the moment Chaka shot him, his life wasn't in danger. But the guy who was shot did participate in jumping Chaka and might've been talking shit at the time he was shot.

But he was backing up, not advancing and Chaka shot him.

I'm not mad at Chaka because four people jumped him so somebody's getting shot.

I can't say at the exact moment he shot was justified but...

Hey I don't know man, wipe it off the record books and everyone gets a clean slate! :dunno:

Prosecutors resources probably tied up in the Thug Rico trial. Who knows when they will get to this. I'd bring that up if I were his counsel.

When is this guy getting a trial date?

So much for the right to a speedy trial.
when ever the justice system get a High profile case, from Athletes,

to Rappers to actors.... everything gets pushed to the side...

Im just saying from the police and politicians thirsty as fuck for photo ops and

lawyers, Prosecutors, judge get so excited for the publicity they push everything

away to focus on the high profile shit...

My question,

Why they never get called out for being The biggest CLOUT CHASERS the world

has ever known..??

They wanted Jonathan Majors so bad, they didnt even give a fuck dude is innocent and was actually

the victim, they ignored all obvious evidence, just to get their names and faces associated with his..

Clout chasing should be illegal from Policing to the justice system..and cops and lawyers and judges

need to start getting called out for it!!! They have cases just lingering for damn near a year,

just so they can clout chase, that shit is pathetic and needs to start being called out!!

And he is essentially a celebrity, so the common man's cases in their system must really be backlogged!
naw man, it takes money to stall a case... slow that shit down and hope it falls apart. Cloud some memories, hope somebodies recollection fails or witnesses move on...look for technicalities....

Now is it over or will he have to look over his shoulder for the get back?

Crazy industry he is in. I'm sure the stories he could tell would be very eye opening.
