Certs..What have you obtained this year or in the process of obtaining?

So we're at the midway point of the year..what goals have you set up at the beginning of the year that you have accomplished or in the process of accomplishing?

My goal at the beginning of the year was to get my BICSI certification, A+ & N+..so far I got my BICSI certification about a month ago..now I'm getting ready to purchase the Symbex book to study for my A+..hopefully I can get my A+ cert around September/October and my N+ around November/December..

Working on Security+ now. Hope to have it complete by the first week of August.

Next up will be working on the CCNA. I want to have that one by the end of the calender year at the latest (I've been bullshittin on that one for the last three years now, gotta get it done.)

After that it's gonna be all about learning Linux and using Backtrack like a mofo

Currently have Security+, CISSP, and MCTS: Configuring Win 7. Will be re-doing CCNA and adding CCNA Security this year as well as completing MCITP: Enterprise Admin and CEH before 2012 ends. Yup, I'll be busy this summer.

Almost done with N+, then 70-270 to try to land a entry level IT gig in desktop support. Don't want phone based jobs so I'm hoping to land something hardware based just being a PC tech or something of that matter. Gonna get back to studying right now.

I'm studying for the A+ certification now. I'm also taking a course now that's helping to prepare me for the Security+ exam . I think I'll attempt that exam later this year. This site here is a good site for exam help.

Grab some reading material first and if think you can make due with just that then use that. If books aren't enough and you think you need extra help after going through the material, then look into taking a course. Either way you can't lose by grabbing some books, as you can always have them for reference. Bookmark the site I posted earlier because it is very useful. They have practice exams and people that can help point you in the right direction.

Being Network+ certified helps because I'm seeing some of the same material on the Security+ study guides.

Also, to everyone: What is really hot these days? I know security is still up there, but what are the employers really looking for? And what is paying some decent money? ($75k & up)

I'm actually bullshitting on the A+ exam

I bought this massive A+ book late last year and I read a chapter or 2 every so often. I'll take the exam when I feel I'm ready. I'm actually working on building a beastly computer now as a side project and hopefully by the end of the year I'll have that done. By the time I finish that and with studying I figure I can take the A+ exam early next year.

that's what I'm trying to get into but nobody is trying to fuck with me so far it seems because I don't have any experience with avaya/cisco. Was gonna get a gig with a small company that was willing to train me but idk what happened with that. Just recently i just got a response from a company i applied to but i'm afraid they gonna end up not messing with me because of lack of experience. It's so damn frustrating.

If you currently have a CISSP, what purpose is it for you to get a CEH?? I thought the CISSP was supposed to be the cream of the crop for security.

I gave that suggestion based off him having no experience, no certifications, and him wanting to go with networking. I figured it would be a good way to start with building his qualifications and General knowledge on networking.
