Car Dealers Are Trying To Make Having A Car Payment Over $1,000 The New Normal

It looked like they were in a car dealership- so (assuming they are telling the truth) I'm wondering if they getting some home cooking on those prices/payments, and the numbers they were saying were what the would have been paying... or more accurately, what YOU can come in and pay.

it was strange to hear that everyone in that video was driving '22 models, even though there had been a new car shortage during the pandemic- (which circles me back to point one)

I think, like the vid says- these dealers trying to normalize the 1k+ payment, as now they need to move inventory and make up for lost (pandemic) revenue - and with people actually leaving the house again, they trying to take advantage.

I'm from the midwest, so I'm fine with my used vehicle, lol.-

I was gifted a used car and haven't looked at new cars since. Even when I had to take it to the dealer for some work, they gave me a loaner and I still wasn't tempted. I haven't had a car note since 2007. It is absolutely insane what people are paying.

Also...now is not the time to be buying any depreciating asset. I'm waiting until 2024 before I even begin to shop around.

Buy used. A one to two year old car can still be like new.

You're really not getting a deal on those cars either in this current market. I know this chick who was looking at a 2019 Rav4 that had 35k miles on it & the dealership was about to no Vaseline her. They were trying to sell it to her for $37k out the door :smh: .

My mom has the same car and paid mid 20s back in 2019 brand new.

No doubt you are right.

I got my last "new-ish" car in 2015...a 2015 Charger, bought slightly used from Carmax, 17k miles. It was a rental car.

I think I got it just under 25k.

Haven't been in the market since then.

Even better get an older car for cash. Problem solved

People who can't really afford those cars but they just want what they want, well they can afford the cars cause if they couldn't they wouldn't be paying on them but most are one emergency away from missing a payment or insurance and now their behind, yadda yadda yadda.

This is why I say this system is setup for most to fail in some form or another and you have to resist it cause what's normal is never good for you.

Car payments before the insurance......crazy and I would drive an older model car or a hooptie before I pay 1000,700,500 ,400 is to fucking high,I wonder if they put a down payment down? anyways, might as well lease so you can turn it in and get an updated car in two years.

White folks, who are the majority fall victim to the same system and when it get's too bad for em they run it up,commit suicide or cry to their Uncle Sam

The chip issue made used cars prices jump in price. New cars, couldn't even get one.

My wife been itching for a new car. She has a 2018 bought new. I've actually watched the value of her car literally go up over the past year which is nuts. When I look on the dealer site last, they had 5 of her new models available. Dealer barely had any new inventory months ago, but had a bunch of used cars with prices the same as buying new.

Had to convince her to chill for now. Prices are cray

Yeah man shits wild out here.. My wife got a 10 year old Altima and she wants an EV. We went looking at a few the other day but the dealers marking all them bitches up. I told her to just hold out as long as possible til things cool down. The bubble will pop soon, people can't continue to overpay.
