Glad you were able to shake off the noise that are these United States. America is one big ass marketing scheme that people consider ACTUAL life and that's the scariest bit. They spend billions upon billions (the TV you mentioned, social media, advertising, etc..) to keep us inside this insular bubble by preaching, "we're #1, capitalism is king, we're the best, everyone else sucks..." blah blah blah... and the worst part is that people truly, in their heart of hearts believe that this is real life and don't give enough of a fuck to try and change it. They're actually quite comfortable with their conditioning and eventually grow up to defend it at all costs, which is why you'll always get opposition when someone says anything contrary to what is.
One of the most personally contentious rap lyrics I've always had "unsettling" feelings with was when Jay-Z said:
"You can blame Shawn but I aint invent the game
I just rolled the dice, tryna get some change..."
Now, I understand where he's coming from 100%, and you can interpret that 12 different ways, but I always took it as if Hov wasn't JUST talking about the streets, but this life itself.
As if to suggest that this capitalist world (the game) we were indoctrinated in, we didn't choose or invent, which he's right, we didn't. We just get up and go to work (aka roll the dice and do as were told) to get this change. It's always stuck with me and is always followed by, "can we do better than this dice game called capitalism?"
I digress.
All that being said, this world were indoctrinated into from birth, is this it? Is there more to life than blindly chasing this money that a white man created? I've always felt like there was but you'll learn quickly that most people cannot tell you the difference. People will effortlessly regurgitate media talking points, thinking they're truly saying something original, when it's just recycled jargon. At times it's comical to watch.
As previously stated, they grow up thinking this is life and defend it because it's all they know. The hardest part is shaking them out of that train of thought and introducing them to something new and potentially better for everyone, including themselves, cause again, once all this wrapped up, and looking at this country and the status quo, this dice game and the way its being played ...
It aint it.
