You're not too bright. First, never quote "wikipedia." Second VA/NC are the first entrance states into the south, some even consider MD to be apart of that as well. I don't even think SC classifies as the deep south. NC is definately one of the main states who can go both ways as mid-atlantic and south-atlantic. Deep south, naaaah. You haven't seen "deep south." The map they show on not so reliable wikipedia is the entire southern region. Texas is excluded because it is a south-western state.

Don't forget Northern Virginia which is mad crazy and busy and far from country. VA Beach/Norfolk area isn't bad either. My hometown Roanoke is small and too damn conservitive. Let me re word what I said. There aren't enough venues for young blacks in Roanoke to have a good time and thats where the problem arises. It may be the same way in Charlottesville.

I think most of you are reading this map wrong. I don't think majority of the black people in nc live in those areas. Most of them live in Charlotte & surrounding areas, Reliegh/Durham and Greensboro area. Those stats above just give percentages. So basically a town with 1000 people in it and 600 of them are black would make the population over 50%. Where Charlotte has over 200K black folks

If you love night life, Charlotte isn't the place to be. The nightlife there sucks. I lived there for 2 years. Seems like there would be some spots for black people to hang out there, but no. Those of you who compare Charlotte to ATL are trippin. ATL has something for you to do every night. Cool social spots etc. Only places in the south with similair nightlife like ATL are West Palm Beach, Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Jacksonville doesn't have a good night life or any other city I can think of. If you are a party promoter or a social scene promoter you can make killer money in Charlotte or another other city I didn't mention in the south with a lot of people.

Charlotte is on some racial shit. That is a black and white city. The crazy thing is you have progressive black there. Now my home town of Charleston, SC is different. White people aren't on racial B.S. there, but the blacks are not up-to-par. Opportunities like hell are in Charleston, but black people mind-set is stuck. Some of the most friendly white people live there. In fact Charleston is the most hospitable city in America. Trust me you can tell if you go there. The crazy thing is Charleston is majority black because of charleston had the 2nd biggest port for slaves. What's crazy is old white and jewish cats who lived here most of their lives sound like black slaves. LOL We call it gullah and geechie. Shit is crazy to hear. I'm from North Carolina and plan on moving back in the next 4 years. Charlotte is nice but the Raleigh Durham area has been in the top 5 best places to live according to Forbes magazine the last 6 years. The unemployment rate is among the lowest in the nation. I graduated from NC State and go back to Raleigh as much as I can. If you like it slow, then find a city on the coast. Thats where I'm from but I will never go back there to live. Don't knock country women. They may not be as "slick" as northern women but you'll never find a more loyal, freakier, family oriented woman anywhere.LOL And they can cook too.

Charlotte ("Queen City") is the biggest city in NC (over 600,000 people in the city) and is a great place for young black professionals and it is still growing with a strong job market
There's also a pretty good nightlife there and sports teams (Panthers and Bobcats)

There it is....my brother re-located to Charlotte from NY as well as my cousin. Charlotte in the next few years is projected to be the next ATL.

I just gotta co-sign. I've lived and worked in a lot of cities, and Raleigh/Durham NC ranks high up there on my list. Ok, I may be biased because I was born in the south, but Raleigh is cool for cats from up north or major metropolis seeking a change from the fast life.
