Corporations, Banks etc have been shitting on all Americans waaaaaay before 2008. The foreclosure stuff made White folks read the fine print on those "White Flight contracts". They didnt like what they found. When your White privilege fails you AND you have a President who cant relate to White privilege, you get scared, angry and FINALLY decide to Occupy Wallstreet. When your Black President realizes that his Blackness may be scaring you, he does and says things that reassures you that he's no where near Malcolm X. Hence, calming down your bs protest.
Millions of Americans (mostly White folks) have embraced bs perceptions about Muslims since 9.11.2001. Once Trump wins, those same White folks now want to march for the Muslims. Women's March = White Women who are angry at Trump. Anti Nazi in Charleston....a lot of them are White folks who think Trump controls racism, so they go to the rally to fight back. The Black folks at these marches are either hustling off the fear or getting hustled. More are on the getting hustled side.
Most of this nationally televised stuff is via social media trends, hustles or typical White fear. But most dont care. All of this shit has been going on for ages. These people didnt decide to respond because theyre having epiphanies or FINALLY being educated about how fucked up the world is. They respond because they find comfort in saying "I was at the March" or because they fear being snatched from their comfort zones via someone who they dont like.
As for Black folks, if we aint for sure we're getting something from going to these protest, then we shouldnt be at the protest. Simple as that! That includes BLM protest as well (because even those have turned into hustles).
