BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge rapper Corey Miller, better known as "C-Murder," was sentenced in district court Tuesday morning to ten years in prison.
Judge Tony Marabella handed down the punishment to Miller for his role in an incident at Club Raggs back in 2001.
Miller pleaded no contest to two counts of attempted second degree murder.
In surveillance video released back in May, investigators say Miller can be seen pulling out a semi-automatic pistol and people near the door of the club scatter.
Police say Miller's gun jammed and no one was hurt.
Miller's attorney says his problems in Jefferson Parish, where he was convicted of second degree murder, are still an issue.
"I'm glad it's over with," said attorney Steven Moore. "I think Corey is glad this part is over with, so he can concentrate on his bigger issues down in Jefferson Parish."
"Well, I think there's issues," said Assistant Attorney General David Caldwell. "I don't know how those will come out. Certainly, we hope this is the end of it, but I don't think it's going to be an appellate issue for years to come in the other case."
Miller will be taken to the Department of Corrections facility, where he will continue serving his life sentence for a second degree murder conviction in Jefferson Parish. That conviction could be in an appeals court for some time.
