Web app development isn’t hard, but there sure is a lot of material to go over. I wanted to create a comprehensive course because I feel if someone is serious on building something great, you need to have knowledge on many of the different aspects of creating web apps. In addition, I didn’t want to create a boring course which goes over the basics of programming and then, separately, shows how to develop feature after feature without a cohesive vision.

In this course our main project will be building a recipe search engine using Python and Google App Engine! Yeah, a full-blown recipe search engine. It’s kind of like a smaller version of Google, where the only thing you can search for are recipes instead of the entire web. Python is in my eyes, the best programming language to learn when you’re starting. It reads like english so it’s easy to understand the code and what it’s doing, and Python tends to be terse, meaning that it’s neatly concise and free of syntactical and verbal redundancy. Or in other words, it’s clean and productive, where one line of Python code can do what maybe 5-6 lines of code do in other languages. Python is also a lot of fun to code!

Google App Engine is an astonishing technology we can use to deploy our apps. It takes away all of the headaches of managing servers and infrastructure so you can focus 100% on your application code. Whenever your app gets popular and receive a peak of traffic you don’t have to worry about your servers crashing over the increased load. Google App Engine automagically spins up new servers to serve your users. In addition, App Engine provides many extremely useful services we will use, but that we don’t have to install and configure. For example, we don’t need to install nor configure a database, a email server, full text search indices, queues, etc. All of that is already build by Google on App Engine and we simply need to call those services to use them. Do you know how much time that saves us in the development process? A ton!
All of that allows us to rapidly develop apps, test them out and figure if we are getting traction or if we need to improve our product. It’s this ability of fast development cycles that leads us to find our ideas that work, and hopefully, generate revenues and lead us to live the lifestyle we dream of.

The IsoTek Full System Enhancer CD features three tracks. 0.1 (30 minutes) and 0.2 (30 minutes) are similar, with the second being optimised for systems with large loudspeakers and/or subwoofer(s). In general, use 0.1 for most stand-mounted speakers, 0.2 for floor-standing models, except perhaps the slimmest. The differences are neither profound nor dangerous, but the benefits of 0.2, in the right situations, we have found to be audible. The last few minutes of each track are intended specifically for system demagnetising and we DO advise that playback of each track should be performed in full.

Neuro-Muscular Layer of strength: This is the most superficial level of strength. The physical strength that we all so eagerly develop. Note I didn’t say muscular strength. Of course having bigger muscles are important. But they are not the only factor contributing to increasing your strength. Most of us train to get big muscles. I’ve done so for years. But the muscular structure is just the external aspect. Physical strength is the manifestation of synchronized effort of the central nervous system, skeletal system and musculature.

Elliott quotes a very good analogy between a bulb and rheostat to explain the functioning of the nervous system. Just like when you need the bulb to get brighter or the ceiling fan to rotate faster, you do that by turning the dial so that more electricity passes through the circuit; similarly your muscles lift a load only when your nervous system signals it to do the same. Therefore, it is NOT mandatory that your bigger muscles mean that you can lift heavy. Along with big muscles you also need to train your nervous system to signal your muscles to generate that kind of force so that you can lift heavy through training by a full range of motion.

Likewise, we also need to give our skeletal structure its due importance. Often times we complain about aching joints without realizing that the way we train may be incorrect. It may be important to note here that our structural integrity is in a great way dependent on our skeletal form- spine, joints etc. Prolonged postural faults and incorrect form in movement (not just training, but day to day activities) may cause chronic aches and ailments that would be an obvious hindrance in being the strongest version of ourselves.

Physiological layer of strength: The second layer of strength deals with different functions of the body at a much deeper i.e Physiological level. We’re talking about the various functions that we perform involuntarily and that are responsible in keeping us alive: Respiratory system, digestive system, hormonal system etc. Our bodies are designed to function like extremely complex and precise machinery that, over the last several millennia of our existence on this planet, have tuned to our surrounding environment- Climatic conditions, available sources of food and water, terrain, socio-cultural factors; for a maximum output in terms of performance, health and well-being. However in the last 100 years or so, our lives have been changed due to the economic and technological progress. If you are able to read this article, then you are one of those millions of people whose life has been touched by this change. The human body was designed the way we see ourselves today to perform maximum physical work. However, technology has changed that, along with our food habits, lifestyle and stress levels. Everything we consume- the air we breathe, the water we drink and food we consume is different from what our bodies have been habituated to in the past several thousands of years. This sudden change results in physiological imbalances in our body. It’s simple, if we breathe air that’s polluted, water that chemically treated and food that is genetically modified or chemically processed and add to that stress levels the final result is a weakened physiology: breathing disorders, hormonal imbalances, digestive ailments to name a few. The process of strengthening yourself physiologically involves controlling your environment- the food and water you consume and reduce stress levels as much as possible. That leads us to the third layer of strength.

Energetic layer of strength: The key to reducing your stress levels lies in the energetic layer of strength. The process of getting stronger involves not just physical but mental strength. I’ve always had belief in the fact that you have the potential to make your body achieve anything; the only limitation being what the brain imposes. We often talk about the mind and body as if they are 2 different units. What I realized after studying Elliott’s philosophy is that the brain and the body are in fact one. Simply put, you cannot feel strong and healthy if you are emotionally low. Remember how sometimes your day doesn’t go well and you feel too weak to go through your workout at the gym. Also on certain days you feel happy and naturally feel energetic to go about with your workout, professional and personal commitments. Quite evidently, your emotions and thoughts- your mental state have a direct effect on your physical state. That brings us to our starting point- we cannot be truly strong without a strong mind (energetic strength).
