Business moves for the year...?

What up fam? I'm just dipping thru to see what everyone is working on for 2014. My wife and I are doing phone service, and have just gotten approved as wholesalers for cell phones. So right now we're set up to resell phones to others, so that we will have enough revenue to open a store in June. I'm still doing the music thing, and will be able to expand my studio's equipment and visibility as we delve into our main venture. It was a struggle there for a minute. But one tip I just wanna drop on the fam is how I've been looking at things the past few months, and it helped me, so maybe it can help some of you. If it motivates just one of you I will be happy.

A friend of mine made a statement to me about a year ago about becoming a millionaire and the various ways of possibly doing so. He said, "do you realize that if you could get just 1,000 people to give you $1,000, you would have a million dollars?" All I could think was when you look at it that way, it doesn't seem like such a large number anymore. I bounced it around in my mind for about a week or so, but the problem with that was, no one is gonna just give you $1,000. So I put it outta my mind. During the summer, my wife got hired giving away free government cell phones like you see people doing under canopies in various places. The job paid a commission of $2 per phone. She was able to do between 30 and 60 phones per day, so it worked out okay. Then the parish in which we live started having code enforcement shut them down whenever they would set up. So that was a wrap for that.

We were going thru the process of trying to get permits so that wouldn't happen anymore, when my wife called the company for which she worked and inquired about being able to do what her boss does; just hire people and have them give the phones away. She was informed that it was $1,500, and as low as $1 a piece per phone depending upon the size of your order. So then she said well, how much do you make per phone as a master agent (her boss' title), they told her $30 per phone. <-- Exactly. So when she was moving her 50 units per day, along with the 3 other employees he had setup around the city, he was making a killing, doing no more than dropping phones off to them each morning. I estimated that if the other 3 just did half as well as she did, he was making well over $3,000 a day.

Anyway that job ended. One good thing she walked away with was a desire to get into the cell phone business herself, and a certification ($900 one day course) to sell phones which the company had paid for. So about 3 or 4 months back, I started thinking about that million dollars again. I said well if I cut it in half, it will be easier, and more believable to myself. So I did. Then I did it again. Then I focused on $100,000, then $50,000, and finally $20,000. I decided I would make $20,000 this month, starting March 4th. <--- That date is significant in what it says, because it's what we must do.

I said okay, I need to get 200 people to give me $100. That's a much more easily achieved number on both sides of the equation. But... they're still not just gonna give it to you. So you need a product. What are the hottest, most profitable commodities on the market, high end sneakers, clothing and CELL PHONES. So in February, my wife called her old job up and got some details about contacting a distributor. What she found out with little or no digging was how to become one herself. So it was on from there. After paying those initial fees to get her in, we had $3,000 left. We ordered a few phones and a couple tablets so we could get started. Today we are four days in and I've knocked 28 people off of my quota of 200. So I'm 2 people away from breaking even and getting into the profit stage of phone sales. Thank GOD for Mardi Gras and a bunch of people being in town willing to spend money. Because the first week in anything is always the slowest and hardest.

One tip, craigslist is your friend in so many ways. The first sale I had was guy coming in town from Texas and he'd seen the ad, and just wanted a new phone. True to his word he came thru. So think about it fam. All you have to do is sit back and figure out what you can get, to get people to give you their money, and hustle up a sizable profit monthly. I just wanted to give that as a little bit of motivation to y'all in hopes that as it worked for me. Looking at large numbers in a smaller manner helps you to see it as achievable. Then you just have to put a plan into action.

Once I reach my $20,000 mark this month, which I'm sure I will, I'm going for $50,000 next month. Let me know what y'all are getting into this year. GOD bless - 100

So wait a minute. I have been checking out that government phone hustle and I knew there was money in that hustle just didn't know exactly how they were doing it.

So let me get this straight:

$900 one day course to get certified or whatever to sell the government phones

$1500 for the permit or whatever it is to sell the government phones

$1 per phone wholesale in bulk lots 100 to 200 phones daily at different booths or locations across town

$30 commission per phone sold and you can break off your workers whatever commission you want per phone and keep the rest of the $30 as pure profit

If that's all there is to it then man this thing is sweet as cotton candy. That's a gold mine.

hanx. No Chico Fontane, we aren't doing repairs yet. But my wife is ordering the tools and studying the videos on how to do so. We get so many questions from people who have cracked iphones and Note 2 & 3 cracked screens. Heads up to those of you who have expensive ass phones, there are screen protectors for $20 or so that will eliminate that worry. It's worth it for the outrageous ass prices they charge for these phones. Most of them don't even cost half of that at wholesale.

biggboye5000, absolutely. My wife and I were effed up when we found out how much of a lucrative business that actually is. And by all means, if you're looking to get into it, make sure you get permits. And make sure there won't be some public official against you doing it. David Vitter was on a crusade against it down here. So look into it and get it poppin. Many blessings - 100

Don't sleep on repairing those cracked phones. I know a dude who started doing repairs who used to sell phones and computers. he tripled his business doing repairs.

He would buy old computers on the cheap just for the parts. He bought I phone glass covers and other various parts and makes way more money because it's mostly a service business. There is really no wholesale or retail involved.

He charges 40 bucks a pop for all smart phone, tablet and computer repairs and makes a killing. He has hired a few people to help with labor and just cakes off of that.

Yeah will definitely be looking into that. Got a few other things on my plate at the moment but was looking into that gov phone hustle because it looked like something that could be done.

I was mainly looking into the affiliate or sales rep end of it and was not really looking into it as a vendor. But if that is all it takes to be a vendor with profit margins like those then this most def needs to be looked into.

If you serious about that million dollar stuff don't sleep on the thread posted below or especially and more specifically the book that inspired the thread in the first place.

I'm not there yet myself but this book really breaks down the path in simple realistic and practical terms.

Aww man, thanx. I hadn't even seen this thread. I just d/led the book, and will def be reading it to help enhance my existing plans. And yo, I'm already into the computer upgrade/repair. I've been doing that for about 13 years now. When my homeboy came back from the army he was all into that kinda ish. I immediately saw dollar signs. My main problem for a while was fixing em too well, and installing the virus protection that I use myself. That cut down on my return customers a lot. I still want em all to be satisfied though, so now I just add a fee for installing it. I'll let you know how things go with the phone repairs, and how the book helps. 100

As far as the repair stuff goes you already know.

Check out that book and I hope everything goes well for your store and everything.

BTW what virus program do you use? Looks like I have been running into a few issues with that lately.

Honest;y between the Avast Home (Free) Version, and Malware Bytes free version, my customers are usually pretty set. Nothing much seems really able to get past the em unless they are user disabled. Now if your system is already trippin, I would suggest doing a fresh install and then letting em do their thing.

Nothing major yet just generally slow and a little sluggish and I had a few alerts from an old expired program I have. I did have a reinstall done on an old computer I had a while back. Had it done twice. One dude wiped out all my files. The other dude did the same thing but saved all my files in one folder.

Will do that if the situation worsens or doesn't help. Thanks for the tech advice and keep doing your thing.

Plex, I've been trying to find where to get certified/set up to be a provider...any help would be greatly appreciated..

Yo black, my wife worked for a company called Life Wireless. The position you would want is to be a 'master agent'.

Update for the fam:

Just wanted to touch base with the fam on my progress. Hopefully it helps to motivate some of y'all and/or keep others motivated. As I stated, I set out to make $20,000 this month starting March 4th. I don't imagine I'll be making anything else tonight because I'm in for the night. I didn't reach that goal, but of course that was my fault because there were certain factors I didn't weigh in. This was due mainly to shipping times that shaved about 5 days off of my time. What I was able to do was make $9,700. This is my profit after the $4,500 I invested. So I'm not mad about it, because that's nearly half my goal, plus I'm always happy if I can double my money.

So, this month I'm gonna set my goal at $15,000. I'm still going for the $20,000, but I set it lower because I still hate setting a goal and not reaching it. Since I have a lot more to invest at the beginning of this month, I can move a lot faster. But, I'm also setting it lower because this month I have to find a lot more new people to deal with. Last month I really concentrated mainly on people I know and their families and friends. I'm not to worried about it because I have a strong craigslist and flea market plan. I really can't wait until I'm in an actual storefront. I actually have the money to do that now, but I still would have to fill the store with supplies, inventory, employees, insurance, etc. So I'm still shooting to do that over the summer.

By the way, I did get my phone bill, my wife's, and two of my son's, down to $10/month. So that's a household savings of $1,920/month. That's great and motivating in itself. This month I'm not stopping until we each are through with paying a phone bills. That will ultimately be $2,400/year. I'll keep comin back to keep you guys posted. GOD bless to the fam.
