(CNN) – Former President Bush has only been out of office for less than a month, but historians have already delivered an early verdict on his presidency.

In a survey of over 60 historians conducted by C-SPAN, the 43rd president ranks the seventh worst (and 36th overall) in the nation's history, just edging out Millard Fillmore.

Fillmore, the one-term president who served from 1850-53, assumed the presidency after Zachary Taylor died in office and was unable to win it in his own right.

Worst on the list is James Buchanan, the one-term Democrat who served from 1857–1861 and has been criticized for not doing more to prevent Southern states from seceding.

At the top of the list, the historians rank Abraham Lincoln as the best president in the nation's history, edging out George Washington and Franklin Roosevelt.

As for other recent presidents: Bill Clinton comes in at 15th, George H.W. Bush at 18th, Ronald Reagan at 10th, and Jimmy Carter at 25th

On one hand, your statement regarding 10 years is true. The rest of your comment was out of line in my opinion though. I'm not here to judge or attack you personally at all, but it was reckless. He's the only President to ever balance the budget in office. He also strongly opposed and destroyed the central bank (Federal Reserve system) that the Globalist bankers semi-established through James Madison. I'm not saying the man is perfect, no man is, but seeing how the Federal Reserve system has practically destroyed the American economy as we know it and this is the only President to actually do something about it speaks volumes. Thank you! I swear there isn't anyone over the age of 25 in this thread. LBJ was not a friend of the Black man by any stretch of the imagination. LBJ voted against civil rights bills for over 20 years until political pressure as president forced him to sign the Civil Rights Act of '64. You young brothers are fortunate that you never had to see the realities of those times.
