Brother, I lost my mother to lung cancer (cigarettes) in August. Was able to fly home to spend the last week of her life with her - tidied up a lot of issues in that week. Take consolation in the good times with them, and resolve to patch up things with friends and family that might be estranged. I'm in that process now and recommend to everyone.
