The Party is to blame for putting such a poor candidate out there. Who are the top candidates being groomed for the next election? If the concern for party support is genuine, the most proactive approach is to push the Democratic leadership to groom a candidate that can invigorate support from black folks,latinos and most of all, the white women that majority voted for Trump. This is far more procative than hoping things get worse to "punish"the black folks that didn't vote out of fear.Statistically, black folks didn't vote for TRUMP. Statistically, white women did. Yet they aren't beating each other over the head about not voting for Hillary out of fear.

Justice Roberts who was appointed by Bush 2 has been moderate on social issues like the ACA (Obamacare).
The GOP is now using a system where Conservative groups like the Heritage Foundation vets and chooses Justice nominees. Historically Senators would select Judges from their states to recommend to the President.
Also, people need to understand how Govt works. SCOTUS does not make laws.
They just decide what is Constitutional.
The power is in Congress. They are the legislative branch of the Govt.
They could write a law or even a Constitutional Amendment sayin Abortion is illegal or legal and that’s that on the subject.
They could write a Amendment to the Constitution bringing back Slavery.
Yeah, it’s doubtful they will pass, but they have the power to do it.

Even after he clearly won, Hillary held Obama hostage until he gave her the Secretary Of State job. Every election, the other Candidates concede to the winner for the "good of the party". If she retires with more than a year before an election, the election year argument holds no weight.
