On Saturday, Donald Trump headed to New York City for UFC 244—and would up getting booed by a massive crowd for the second time in a week. Just watch:

Trump's former hometown welcomed him back with a line of protestors outside MSG, too:

The audience at Madison Square Garden for UFC 244 isn't as brutal as the World Series crowd who booed the guy on October 27—there are no "lock him up" and a few scattered cheers mixed in, but they are easily drowned out by the jeering crowd. Trump, for his part, seemed to deny the booing even happened, tweeting that walking into MSG was "a little bit like walking into a Trump Rally." But, uh, give the footage a watch above and decide for yourself.

"Fox & Friends" had a creative way of spinning Trump's "big reception" at an Ultimate Fighting Championship match on Saturday night.

As Trump entered the stadium at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the crowd greeted him with a mixture of cheers and boos. Some videos, depending on where they were taken from, show that the boos were overwhelming.
But the Fox News hosts focused on the cheers, not the boos. Host Pete Hegseth said the crowd was showing its appreciation for "the brawler style of a brawler president."
And Ed Henry, another host on the show, said the real Trump fight was with Nancy Pelosi over impeachment. He said Trump was just trying to have fun.
"There are some media outlets that are saying they mostly heard boos. This has become so juvenile," he said. "If you actually listen to the audio and the video, there clearly were a ton of cheers. And who cares? The president was clearly trying to have a fun night."

Trump attended the match with his two adult sons, Eric and Donald Jr., along with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and Republican Reps. Peter King and Mark Meadow. They watched fighters Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal battle for the BMF, or "Baddest Motherf---er Belt." (Masvidal won.)
Here are some of the videos of Trump being greeted at the match, so you can judge for yourself.

  • President Donald Trump compared the crowd's reaction, which was a wave of boos along with cheers, when he arrived at a UFC match to the "great energy" of one of his rallies.
  • Videos posted to social media captured a loud mixture of boos and cheers that greeted Trump as he took his seat at Madison Square Garden.
  • Trump wrote that it "was a little bit like walking into a Trump Rally," which are been known for raucous audiences turning out to support the president.
  • It was the second time in less than a week Trump had been booed at a major sporting event, but perhaps the crowd at Game 5 of the baseball World Series that launched chants of "Lock him up!", a version of one of Trump's jabs at former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, was a closer match to one of Trump's rallies.

President Donald Trump took to Twitter Sunday morning to present his take on the crowd reacting with a wave of boos when he arrived at a UFC match the night before.

Trump wrote that "Walking into Madison Square Garden last night with [UFC President Dana White] for the big UFC Championship fight was a little bit like walking into a Trump Rally."
The president used shorthand for his campaign slogan and its descendent, "Keep America Great," writing "Plenty of MAGA & KAG present. Great energy. Fantastic job Dana!"
Videos posted to social media showed an immediate reaction from the crowd to Trump entering the arena, and different videos seem to contain either more cheers or more boos, depending on where in the audience it was taken. Whether they were sounds of approval or protest, Trump has a point about the lively arena matching the "energy" of his often-raucous rallies.
Trump's assessment comes after Fox & Friends cast the crowd's reaction in an equally positive light, focusing on the portion of cheers among the boos that came from an appreciation for "the brawler style of a brawler president."

'Headlock Him Up': Hundreds protest President Trump outside UFC Fight at the Garden
MIDTOWN, Manhattan -- President Donald Trump took a break from battling the Democrats' impeachment inquiry to watch another bloodsport Saturday, drawing a mixed response at a UFC match at a raucous Madison Square Garden.

The President had seats on the floor. Sitting on one side of him was House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. On the other side of him were his sons, Donald Jr., and Eric.

Long Island Republican Congressman Peter King was also there.

Hundreds of people protested outside the Garden, shouting things like 'lock him up.'

Some also held signs reading 'headlock him up' - a reference to the UFC fight he came to watch.

The greeting, though split, was warmer than the reception Trump received earlier in the week, when he was roundly booed and faced a "Lock him up!" chant at a World Series game he attended in Washington.

Though a bloody mixed martial arts fight may be an unusual venue for a president, Trump has longstanding ties to the UFC and sat just a few rows from the cage, where fighters took turns bloodying each other with a variety of kicks and punches.

He was set to sleep in his former penthouse Saturday before leaving town Sunday morning, his motorcade certain to add to the traffic congestion anticipated that for the New York City Marathon.

The President's visit to the city came just 48 hours after he switched his residency from Manahttan to Palm Beach, Florida.
