(CNN)R. Kelly could be facing an investigation in Georgia after the airing of a Lifetime documentary series that chronicled allegations of abuse, predatory behavior and pedophilia against the singer.

Gerald Griggs, an attorney for the family of Joycelyn Savage, one of the women featured in "Surviving R. Kelly," said the Fulton County District Attorney reached out to Griggs a few days ago, after the show aired.

Griggs said the Fulton County DA is conducting an investigation into Kelly.

Chris Hopper, the public information officer for the Fulton County DA, said he had "no comment" after being asked if there was an open investigation of Kelly in Georgia.

Griggs said he was asked to provide a list of witnesses in regards to events that allegedly took place in Kelly's house in the northern Atlanta suburb of Johns Creek in 2017.

CNN has reached out to Kelly's attorney, Brian Nix, for comment.

"Surviving R. Kelly" revived scrutiny of longstanding allegations against the R&B singer, who is originally from Chicago.

The six-part docuseries featured accounts from accusers and interviews with Kelly's close friends regarding his life and a host of allegations.

Musician John Legend, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, and talk-show host Wendy Williams were also among those who appeared in the series.

Kelly's lawyer told Billboard the documentary was filled with false allegations, and has suggested the subjects are defaming his client for personal gain.

A Chicago prosecutor said on Tuesday that her office has been in touch with two families related to allegations against Kelly since the series aired.

Cook County State's Attorney Kimberly Foxx urged potential victims or witnesses to speak to police.

"Please come forward. There is nothing that can be done to investigate these allegations without the cooperation of victims and witnesses," Foxx said in a news conference. "We cannot seek justice without you."

The family of Joycelyn Savage has claimed she is having a sexual relationship with R. Kelly, and that she is being manipulated by him into cutting off contact with the outside world.

Savage responded to this claim in a video released in 2017, in which she denied she's being held by the Grammy-award winning singer.

In 2002, Kelly was charged with 21 counts of child pornography for a videotape that allegedly showed him having sex with an unidentified underage girl. He was acquitted, and his lawyers at the time said Kelly was not in the video, and suggested his likeness may have been computer-generated.

In 2017, he was accused of having a sexual relationship with a teen. At the time, Kelly's publicist denied previous allegations, saying they were "made up by individuals known to be dishonest."
During a screening of the documentary in December, the theater was evacuated after the venue received a threatening phone call that turned out to be noncredible. Attendees of the screening included Kelly's accusers and prominent social justice activists depicted in the film.

On January 3, Timothy Savage, the father of Joycelyn Savage, filed a police report alleging he was receiving harassing calls from Don Russell, whom he called Kelly's manager. According to a copy of the report obtained by CNN, Russell threatened Timothy Savage with retribution if he continued to support the documentary.

When reached by CNN, Russell declined to comment and identified himself as an "independent entertainment consultant," not Kelly's manager.

"Surviving R. Kelly" aired over three nights on Lifetime starting January 3.

If that's the case then them niggas ain't shit.

NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE ACTING but because they are FINALLY acting NOW afters DECADES of Kellz doing this shit.

Cause let's keep it 100- that exposé exposed nothing except how culpable a lot of motherfuckers were in his dealings. Like...every motherfuck who wasn't a minor he was banging WAS IN ON IT.

I won't even say he was hiding in plan sight - that would be an insult to audacity- cat was just fucking underage girls out right.

Bringing him to task now is like bringing up war crimes on Germany for WW2...today.

*two cents*

Good.
Now that this investigation has begun, either the victims present proof or they don't have any and R Kelly goes free for what they claim.

Watching somebody cry on Lifetime won't ever sway me to believing something, which is why I have not watched that show yet.
If what they say is true, then I would watch it in the future.

It's never to late for justice. NEVER.

But the fact it took this "Expose" for Johnny Law to be like "Damnit ! We finally have enough to bust this dirt bag!" is insulting.

INSULTING.

One can be both pleased and disgusted by the proceedings...

I'm getting to the point that I am wary of these new hoix...brah

Will never say anybody is 100% innocent but this piling on with nothing other than words for money is a problem.

and very selective.

fair exchange ain't a robbery and every single person that spoke was with RKelly for what they could get from him.

As soon as that stops they all standing on soapboxes.

And every high school girl isn't a naive virgin so that victim /survivor shit is a bit much.

This is what I keep saying. I'm not supporting him but I also am not giving a lot of credence to someone just because they cry on TV. Everybody wants to be victim famous now. Especially when the money runs out.

Fuck Kellz but if he smart he should look to go to another country that does not have an extradition treaty with the US.

-correction

Should he kill himself don't know, but why would he kill himself? He could go to a country in Africa and Asia and live out his sugar daddy pedo fantasies without scrutiny. Nah, he just ain't too smart and thinks that America is the only place to be. Still fuck Kellz though.

The problem is he is too far gone and sick to off himself. He sees nothing wrong with how he living, he is a disillusioned reprobate that does not GAF. If anything we black men should have got him off the streets with that Aliyah fiasco over two decades ago. If Kellz had been doing this shit to non black girls, the non black men would have been dealt with him.

Or we never would have heard anything about it. They might have kept it so quiet that they extorted money from him instead of seeing but not saying.
To say the opposite means you are saying non-black men are beyond reproach, ie the the saintly non-black folks who can kill their own children, mass murder, the catholic priests, etc

You make a point about what others do to their own so of course they not saints, in fact I would say that they are worse. The question is what are we going to do to protect our black daughters and in some cases black sons from being victimized by our own? What I do know about the Murikkkan experience is that Kellz most likely could not get away with doing this to girls outside of our community.

So, whta you’re saying is Kelly is the true victim in all this.

If kellz got money like that then i see the cacs trying too lock him up but if Kelly broke i I don think crackers really give a damn about some black folks and what they doing.

These hoes begging white folks to do something they should have done.

Somebody Daddy should have ran up on kellz years ago. I'm through with this lame simp beg white people mentality stuff anyways.

Yeah they said he was rolling with a “POSSE” to the high school, McDonalds, to the mall etc...and sending them over to give his number to underage girls. He had underage girls with his POSSE all at the studio and on the tour bus. He and all his boys were just a big bunch of sick mufucas. Those guys speaking on the documentary were all part of his group. One guy talking about he was at R Kelly house and went down to the studio and there was a naked woman he was down there fondling. He told about 2 -3 other incidents but kept trying to act like it all shocked him everytime..smh

He sees something wrong with it because he is denying it and paying people off

I think fucking underage groupies was the norm back then. Didn't Aaron Hall knock Gloria Velez up when she was 16?
Yea I'm sure its still happening now. Most dudes hit it and move the fuck on and not have the girls move in with them and have them doing all types of shit.

I think slavery was the norm at one time too. :hmm:
Did I say it was right fool? MF can't make a simple observation without somebody making inferences. Actually my point in making that observation was to say if you gonna investigate R. Kelly, you gonna have to investigate a lot more people.

In Kelly's hometown Chicago, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx addressed reporters Tuesday afternoon after her office had been inundated with calls about the allegations in the documentary, some tied to his Chicago-area home.

Foxx watched the series herself and said she found it "deeply, deeply disturbing." "I was sickened by the allegations. I was sickened as a survivor. I was sickened as a mother. I was sickened as a prosecutor," she said.

But Foxx also said there's no active investigation of Kelly and launching one would require victims and witnesses. Gerald Griggs, an Atlanta-based attorney who represents Savage and his wife, said he has been contacted by both the Fulton County district attorney's office in Atlanta and prosecutors in Chicago. The Fulton County investigators "haven't confirmed or denied an investigation," he said, but they asked him Monday for contact information for witnesses.

Savage and his wife have said repeatedly that Kelly has kept their daughter from contacting them since 2016. Chris Hopper, a spokesman, for the Fulton County district attorney's office, declined to comment.

A Cook County jury acquitted Kelly of all 14 counts of child pornography in 2008. Prosecutors had argued a videotape showed him engaged in graphic sex acts with a girl as young as 13. Kelly and the alleged victim, in her 20s at the time of the trial, denied it was them in the video.

Kelly's Chicago attorney, Steve Greenberg, said in a phone interview Tuesday evening that the allegations in the Lifetime documentary were false. "Ten and a half years after he was found innocent (at trial of child pornography charges) and to fill reality TV time — someone comes up with another round of stories," he said. "No one has found any sex slaves or underage girls because there aren't any."

Greenberg also said it was inappropriate for a state's attorney to characterize allegations she'd seen on TV, prior to charges or even an investigation. "Who makes their assessment of the evidence based on reality TV?" he said.

Again, why is this even topic of conversation? What does it accomplish?
Distractions.

Let's keep the people in panic mode so we can get some more laws passed that take away more freedoms.
