I'm old enough to remember a TV series "Wiseguy". It's about an Italian Fed who goes undercover with the mob, even does time to get closer. In one of the story arcs, he becomes involved with a white supremacist group. It was the big acting break for future TN senator Fred Thompson. He portrays the charismatic leader of the organization. In the end, when they bust the group, he goes free and he tells the idiots that it was all con.

Whenever I see Bannon, Trump or some mouthpiece like Newt or Rush, I think about this scene. Starts at 38:00.
