BREAKING: Sharper gets 9 years.

LOS ANGELES -- Former NFL star Darren Sharper pleaded no contest Monday in Los Angeles to charges of drugging and raping two women in the second of similar criminal cases in four states.

Earlier, he pleaded guilty by video link to sexual assault in Arizona and was sentenced to nine years in federal prison.

In the Los Angeles case, he will have to serve 50 percent of a 20-year sentence. With credit for time served it will come down to about nine years, his attorney said.

The sentences will be served concurrently in federal prison under the agreement.

In the Arizona case, Sharper admitted sexually assaulting one woman and trying to attack another in suburban Phoenix in 2013. It is very unusual to sentence defendants immediately after a guilty plea, which normally can take weeks or months.

Sharper appeared in a Phoenix courtroom by videoconferencing from Los Angeles, where he has been jailed since February 2014 after initially pleading not guilty to drugging and raping two women there in 2013.

Similar hearings will follow in Las Vegas this week and in New Orleans in the next month. In each state, he's accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women when they were unconscious or otherwise unable to resist or consent.

Sharper's attorney announced Friday that the former player reached plea agreements with prosecutors in all the cases against him.

The 39-year-old retired from the NFL in 2011 after winning a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints. He had a 14-year career with three teams and later worked as an analyst for the NFL network.

The alleged sexual assaults all happened since Sharper's retirement as a player.

In Arizona, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Warren Granville said that Sharper will serve his time in federal custody and that the Louisiana case will be resolved through a federal court.

Sharper admitted sexually assaulting one victim and trying to assault another in Arizona, though police say he drugged three women and sexually assaulted two of them at an apartment in Tempe in November 2013.

Prosecutor Yigael Cohen on Monday cited a letter in which one of the victims says she suffered emotional harm as a result of the attack and that she didn't have the ability to resist.

Authorities say a search of the Tempe apartment turned up a shot glass with a white residue that turned out to be the sedative zolpidem, and California investigators discovered that Sharper had a prescription for the drug.

Sharper's attorneys said last year that their client did not make the drinks that authorities say he used to drug the women.

One of the women told police she had not had any alcohol that night until Sharper insisted she drink a shot. Another young woman said she had been drugged, then went to bed, locked her door and was not attacked.

The next day, one of the women confronted Sharper, who denied wrongdoing, according to police reports.

The reports said Sharper was in Arizona to visit a woman who lived at the apartment. The two had met about a year earlier in Las Vegas.

Prosecutors in Nevada, where Sharper is scheduled to change his plea Tuesday, said the former player is expected to plead guilty to one felony charge of attempted sexual assault, with the expectation that he will face between 38 months and eight years in prison, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson told The Associated

Darren Sharper subject to penile plethysmograph testing as part of serial sexual assault plea deal

Disgraced former NFL Pro Bowl safety Darren Sharper will have to undergo regular penile plethysmograph testing after serving a 20-year federal prison sentence as part of his guilty plea tied to the sexual assault of nine women in four states.

Although the 39-year-old Sharper, who won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints, will likely serve less than nine years in prison, he'll face lifetime probation in Arizona. Critics who called it a sweet deal haven't accounted for an array of restrictions and monitoring the ex-football star will have to undergo, Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro said.

"There is a significant period that is hanging over his head," Cannizzaro told The Times-Picayune. "Essentially, he will be on probation for the rest of his life. He will be required to stay in Arizona for the larger portion of his life. So, from the perspective of the sentence, I do believe this is, to some extent, an onerous sentence on Mr. Sharper."

One of Arizona's probation stipulations, which include lie detector tests, is submitting to a penile plethysmograph, which gauges arousal by attaching a sensor to the penis and then flashing sexually-graphic images to get a response, The New Orleans Advocate reported.

Sharper has pleaded guilty or no contest in Arizona, California and Nevada, but his scheduled hearing in New Orleans court this week was postponed until June 15.

Two Louisiana judges must still sign off on the plea deal, which covers three 2013 rapes in New Orleans.

He was facing 33 years in prison in California alone after his budding second career as an NFL Network analyst was stopped cold when he was arrested in Los Angeles on Jan. 17, 2014, accused of being a serial sex predator.

Sharper, who will get credit for time served, will do the time in the federal system and will then be brought back to California for a three-year parole followed by lifetime probation in Arizona as a registered sex offender.

He'll face travel restrictions and not be allowed drink alcohol, frequent bars or step foot inside a liquor store. And Sharper won't be allowed to use the Internet to get a date, The Advocate reported.

It's a far cry from the jet-set lifestyle Sharper enjoyed as a 14-year NFL regular for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and Saints. He retired after the 2010 season.

"When he's an old man, (the probation) will extremely limit what he can do, where he can go and who he can see," Arizona criminal defense lawyer Howard Snader told The Advocate. "If you're writing this from the angle that he's never going to get out of the system, that's correct. If you're writing that he got a sweetheart deal, then, nah."

I aint never heard of no shit like that.:smh: So, if they show him a woman lying in bed and his dick gets hard ,he goes to jail?

Penile what?!?!?!

Basically. But they'll probably show more graphic images. If his dick jumps at some images like the one below, then he may be more inclined to be a repeat offender, according to the test.
