Orville Frank Mader, 54, of Kitchener, Ont., also known to the net community by the moniker Dr.Truth is accused of sexually abusing an eight-year-old boy in Thailand.
'Dr. Truth', 54, was picked up at the airport on an immigration warrant on his way into Canada from Thailand, where he is accused of sexually abusing an eight-year-old boy.
The RCMP's Integrated Child Exploitation Team has taken him to a holding cell in Surrey, B.C.
Mader, who has lived in Surrey, is originally from Kitchener, Ont., but hasn't lived there for years.
Another RCMP officer, Const. Annie Linteau, told CBC News late Thursday night that "the Integrated Child Exploitation Team did arrest a male at Vancouver International Airport on his arrival in Vancouver from Thailand."
"But I'm unable to name this man given the fact that he has yet to appear in court on any charges," the RCMP spokeswoman said.
An RCMP source who spoke to CBC earlier Thursday evening confirmed the man arrested was Mader, who is expected to appear in court in Surrey Friday morning.
Arrest warrant issued in Thailand
Thai police issued an arrest warrant for Mader on Wednesday in connection with alleged sexual abuse committed in the coastal city of Pattaya, a place known for its brothels and other sex industry venues.

Thai police told the Canadian Press Mader will be returned to their country to face the charges.
Canada has an extradition treaty with Thailand, but Canadian sex tourism laws allow citizens to be tried in this country for crimes committed abroad.
New details about the case emerged Thursday as police scoured Pattaya for any trace of Mader.
Thai investigators said the alleged incident happened last weekend.
Boy allegedly given $30 for oral sex: police
Police said the boy, who had been shopping at a mall with his friends, left and went to the city's gay district.
At about midnight Saturday, the boy and his friends were around a swimming pool and were approached by a man, who tried to talk to them, police said.
When the boys couldn't understand his English, the man enlisted the help of a Thai man.
That man allegedly offered the use of his apartment for the alleged encounter, police said. According to the statement from the boy, the foreigner asked him to perform oral sex and the encounter, for which the boy was given $30, lasted about an hour, police said.
The alleged incident came to light when the mother asked the boy where he got the money and she then filed a complaint with the police.
The boy then led investigators back to the Thai man who is alleged to have helped arrange the meeting, police said. The Thai man is in custody.
Second Canadian arrested on Thai charges
Mader is the second Canadian to be arrested for alleged sex crimes in Thailand in the past two weeks.
Earlier in October, Christopher Paul Neil, 32, of B.C. was arrested after a worldwide manhunt following a rare appeal for help from the international police agency, Interpol.
Thai police are investigating whether Mader and Neil knew each other as they frequented some of the same places, including Ben Mansions hotel in Pattaya.
Interpol alleges that Neil is the man shown in about 200 photos circulated on the internet showing the sexual abuse of young Asian boys. The B.C. man is being held in a Thai prison while he awaits trial.
