So Ukraine destroyed all of these bombers? I know the strike was bad (called Russia's Pearl Harbor) but damn. The Japanese didn't destroy everything.![]()

Russia is believed to have around 55 operational Tu-95MS bombers. These aircraft are a major part of Russia's strategic bomber fleet and are capable of carrying nuclear weapons. While the exact number can vary slightly depending on operational status and maintenance needs, the Tu-95MS is a key component of Russia's long-range aviation capabilities
Ukraine claimed to have destroyed or damaged 41 Russian aircraft, including 12 strategic bombers, in a drone attack deep inside Russia. This included Tu-95 and Tu-22M bombers, as well as A-50 early warning and control aircraft. While Ukraine said over 40 bombers were impacted, Russian sources disputed the claim, stating only several planes were hit.

Russia's Long Range Aviationbranch of the Russian Aerospace Forces has approximately 11 Tu-160 bombers in service as of May 2025. Some sources estimate that the Russian strategic bomber fleet includes fewer than 20 operational Tu-160s. In addition, Russia has been upgrading existing Tu-160s to the M standard and is planning to acquire about 50 new Tu-160M bombers
