Ukraine ally Poland is moving to the political center. And that's bad news for Russia's Putin

Victory for the Donald Tusk-led opposition "prevents the emergence of a populist Euroskeptic alliance in Central Europe" and will reset Ukraine relations, analysts and academics told CNBC.

Mutiny Is Brewing in the Russian Army

Reports of growing dissent and localized insubordination, sporadic as they have been so far, are likely to irk the Kremlin, which just months ago was targeted in a full-blown mutiny. It was led by the late Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, who masterminded the mercenaries' "March on Moscow".

White House says Russia is executing its own soldiers for not following orders

It’s a development that U.S. national security officials believe reflects Russia’s morale problems 20 months into its grinding invasion of Ukraine, said White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.

why would ukraine troops be in sudan

Mainly to show Russia and the remains of Wagner that they can get "got" anywhere but the Sudanese government and Ukraine have a common enemy right now too. Wagner was in Sudan killing the locals, helping the RSF and stealing gold etc. :smh:

Kill, terrorize, expel: Testimonies detail atrocities by Wagner-backed militia in Sudan

RSF is at war with the Sudanese government and committing atrocities etc. so, of course, they are backed by Wagner/Russia. Zelenskiy met with the Sudanese government about a month ago so it appears they decided that since they have a common enemy, Ukrainian special forces could be useful.

Good summary

Russia has reportedly attempted to get back some of the weapons it has exported to countries such as Pakistan, Egypt, Belarus and Brazil, in order to boost its arsenal for the ongoing war with Ukraine.

In a report published on Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing three people with knowledge of the matter, said a delegation of Russian officials who visited Cairo in April 2022 asked Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to return more than 100 engines from Russian helicopters that are needed for the full-scale invasion.

Pro-war Russian nationalist Igor Girkin, who is in custody awaiting trial for inciting extremism, has said he wants to run for president in the March 2024 election, his supporters said, citing a letter from prison.

Girkin, who is also known by the alias Igor Strelkov, has repeatedly warned that Russia faces revolution and even civil war unless President Vladimir Putin's military top brass fight the war in Ukraine more effectively.

"A systemic crisis is brewing in Russia - or it is already in the grip of crisis - while the temperature of society is rising," Girkin told Reuters in May. "We are on the cusp of very grave internal political changes of a catastrophic character."
