Same experience when traveling in Eastern Europe. We had a great time in places like Budapest and Bucharest but lots of stares and curiosity about Wife and I. People wanted pictures with us at restaurants and bars etc. Nothing hostile or threatening but it would be insane to pretend it isn't there. You aren't going to encounter the same things as an American tourist in museums/bars/restaurants that you would living in those places as an immigrant from Africa. Not ever been to Ukraine but 100% certain there are racists, bigots there just like everywhere else. This is from a while back:

We know how many weapons are at large and how much ammo has been stockpiled in this country. If a real shooting conflict broke out there could possibly be a blood bath without the government or even police being involved. So many people could die in just days or hours for that matter.

Something similar to that is Putin stands ground where he is and splits Ukraine into two separate counties. A East Ukraine where Russia controls and a West Ukraine that will join NATO and the European Union.
Putin was a former KGB agent in the former East Berlin, Germany. It came out during the Bush administration that he loved those days and saw the control of Germany by Russia as the pride of the Soviet Union displaying the might of Russia.
He most likely longs for those days and wants to kick in a 2nd “Cold War” to reclaim Russia’s “Good Ol’ Days”.
It’s obvious Russia cannot sustain this invasion thru the summer. Something is gonna happen within the next 30 days to end this.
