The FBI says the shooter disassembled the Mauser (not easy to do) after he shot Charlie, put the stock in his backpack and the barrel in his pants leg, jumped off of the roof and ran into the woods. This means, while he was outrunning law enforcement, once he got into the woods he reassembled the rifle putting the barrel back on (we all saw the released photo of the assembled rifle found in the woods), then put the rifle in a cardboard box. Now I don’t know about you, but if I were in that position, I don’t think I’d take the time to reassemble a rifle if I were actively trying to outrun leo’s. But hey, the FBI is implying that’s the case, it must be true.​
