Brad Pitt talking patois - Everyting gwarn be iree

Movie is Meet Joe Black (Pitt, Anthony Hopkins and a few others). Pitt's character is a gent that just moved into the city and meets the doctor he is speaking with. On his way out, he dies and Death embodies his body. He is sent to the home of the doctor where he is to take her father but he falls for his daughter (the doctor) and decides to take a holiday. So it's about Death navigating and living a mortal life so to speak. That scene, he goes to meet the doctor and the woman being on the brink, knows who is he and they have dialogue in her native tongue. Good movie in my opinion.

yessss, I'm not gonna ever watch the film, and soon some1 will offer an explanation!
plus I'm reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally bad at posting..

This is why I posted the scene! I wasn't going to watch the whole filmto find out the context of the scene and risk watching a bad film.

Thank you for this and out of context the scene is still hilarious

To tell the truth, the movie was good. The patios was only bad because he had that white boy voice and no bass like he was really from yard.

That scene was powerful to me. She challenged him like death was a bus trip to that other place and why is that something to make light of or take a holiday from the responsibility of it.

To my Jamaican fam, how did Rob Ford do in this video?

King, for the record: patois is not native only to Jamaica. My fam is from Barbados and our patois uses similar words but the difference is in the announcing and inflections. Guyana, Jamaica, T&C’s patois all a little different.
That’s said, it wasn’t bad. He copped that yardmon Rosetta Stone.

Absolutely good movie. And Pitt is a better actor than folks give him credit for.

Gotcha and thanks for the added info! I really had no frame of reference. It sounded good but had no idea how authentic it was

I suspect that Brad Pitt could've actually pulled off full patois but the director didn't want to have to use subtitles. He seemed like he had the basics down but was pronouncing things on purpose so White people could understand.

Nowadays they would go full patois and use subs.
