You may have noticed that you're seeing more ads for BP in your search results. It turns out that the oil company has moved into full-fledged PR panic and is now buying up various search terms relating to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It has been confirmed that BP has bought ads on Google and Yahoo thus far.
Searching for 'oil spill' will present an ad at the top of the page for BP's "Gulf of Mexico response". According to a BP spokesperson the ad buy is supposed to " assist those who are most impacted and help them find the right forms and the right people quickly and effectively." We would only point out that people will also get BP's party line on events in the Gulf, which in some cases diverge from the scientific consensus.
The search companies have not commented on how many ads BP has purchased or how much they will cost. Have you noticed the ads? Is anyone willing to believe the PR explanation?

They can try the PR campaign but everybody knows BP f*cked up big time. I, personally think everybody should stop playin politics & plug the damn hole!

Nice repeat of a slogan, but how do you do it?

you know what.......I pray I am wrong but this is a natural disaster of near biblical proportions.

They don't know how to stop it & this is only the beginning.

I just want to see more energy placed on plugging the hole as opposed to "playin politics", tryin to figure out whose azz to kick

I don't see the President being the person playing politics in this and that may be a mistake on his part. When he said "this isn't theatre" he's right but to too many people, that's the only part they can understand.
I doubt there's anymore energy to expend on trying to find ways to stop the leak. It's the containment and cleanup that's been lacking the most.

Thats the scary part of this whole thing. I know we only get to see what BP decides to release but it appears the pressure is still as strong as when we first started getting footage of the leak.

I agree because the quality of life of those in the Gulf Coast can change for the worse without immediate attention. It doesn't matter if it's from BP, the fed. govt, the states or a foreign country, Just work towards solutions to help those people out. It's plenty of time to point the finger of blame

this is a natural disaster of near biblical proportions.

This is not a natural disaster. It is man made, which makes the Katrina comparison absurd.

BP and which ever administration OKed the permit for this well had no intention of an emergency back up scenario if it blew. They boasted about mastering the technology for extracting oil in the deep ocean floor, but had not mastered repairing a welll it if leaked uncontrollably.

Profits before people.
