....
Camacho/Taylor

....
everybody else

Single Shot or one-two?
Roy/Leonard/Camacho/Gamboa

Combination punching:
Howard Davis Jr. (he won the Val Barker trophy over Leonard and the Spinks brothers in the '76 Olympics)
....
Camacho/Taylor
....

everybody else

Single Shot or one-two?
Roy/Leonard/Camacho/Gamboa

A 55 year old Howard Davis

I'm torn between Roy and Leonard

The thing about Roy was he was so fast his speed fostered his bad habits of dropping his hands, not jabbing and only throwing one or two punches at a time.

They had to end it with that Montell Griffin knockout

Very good fighter. Him and Mark Breland use to frustrate the hell out of me. It always seemed like they weren't giving it their best.

just cause it was a good fight.

Aaron Pryor vs Tommy Hearns as amateurs

Manny Pac before there was a Manny Pac.

Aaron was that intimidator.. Dude 's offense was his defense

Watch @ 1:02 :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I think maybe a very few could have beaten Pryor in any of the lower weight classes... Ever! A pure beast. It was like fighting a wolverine. He would have destroyed Leonard. He simply would have walked through his Leonard's punches until he could put a 30 punch combination on him. But as far as this thread and hand speed I wouldn't put him in the top lists.

Davis was more of a scientific fighter. Never really went after the KO. Sort of a Willie Pep of the late 70's - early 80's.
Ironically, being that most of his fights went the distance (15 rounds in those days), you would think he would not be so damn coherent.
But there he is at age 55 and sounds great. Charlie Sheen might call it winning

You're right, definetly didn't end up punch drunk so it seems and can still box.

This poll should have been done by weight class. No heavyweight ever had hands as fast as Ali. Yet he only got 16 votes. Something is seriously wrong.

Aaron Pryor would not have destroyed Sugar Ray Leonard. Ray fought all the killers of his time, Hitman, Duran, Hagler, you name them. Ray was a master and would have dismantled Pryor's crazy coked up ass. Sugar Ray had the fastest hands in my opinion, at least when it came to throwing combos.

agreed.....i just didn't feel like starting a new thread when I ran across his fight with Hearns and also know a lot of the young cats never saw AP.

I remember in a press conference his wife told Sugar Ray she would beat his ass.:lol::lol::lol:

 Even Sugar Ray himself wouldn't c/s that. You can even see in the video that was posted of AP that he calls out Sugar Ray and Ray just dismisses him because he knows he can't beat him. AP took Hearns punches at a lighter weight class in the amateurs. No way does Ray beat AP. AP was like Hagler on 10 redbulls.

power and speed

Sweetpea is better known for his elusiveness and defensive prowess. When I think him, I don't think of handspeed.

There is actually a way the boxing world measures the hand speed of boxers. In the heavyweights Ali is ranked first. Surprisingly Tyson was ranked #2 among heavyweights.

I'm sure many lessor known boxers ranked up there but every thing else about their skill was banged up.

My vote for this thread goes to Robinson. The cats' first 40 or so fights were not filmed so we can never even know how good this guy was. Before his skills began to erode he was something like 121-1.

Just incredible.
I struggled with the decision, by voting for Jones over Robinson. In the vids, his speed looked good, but when I watched Jones it was just a bit more crisp.

Since I consider SRR the greatest fighter of all time, well, I figure if we were just going for handspeed he could forgive me.

I loved to see that conk wave back and forth while he was schooling ninja's well into his 40's.

BTW, didn't know his first 40 fights were not recorded. I can only imagine...:smh:

Muhammad Ali had the fastest hand speed I ever saw. A lot of you guys are picking Roy Jones because you may be younger and didn't see Ali when he was beating guys like Cleveland Williams. They did a study back then the best way they could by counting how many frames it took a fighter to throw his jab. Leonard was second with 6 frames. Ali was 3 1/2. Sick speed and not just with his hands. His head movement and footwork was also the fastest I have ever seen. Camacho, Jones, Leonard, Taylor are in that second group for me.

roy fought noones for most of his career. Sugar Ray was Leonard did in tough divisions with all time greats.

I disagree. Leonard retired a couple of times ducking Hagler and Hearns for a second time the entire way. He waited for both men to get old before fought either of them.

Sugar Ray Robinson and Iron Mike... both come from Cus and both had to perfect it under him

No one mentions flyod? As if pacman is faster then him.

Ali....I've seen him throw a 12 punch combo in 4 seconds.....and the sad part is that he stopped for almost a whole second in that 4 seconds. You see ai's true speed in his fluries. Ali had like 3 gears of speed. When he kick it in that last gear it was a wrap. Also tyson had maybe the fastest haymakers...but hand speed.....just regular pick u apart hand speed. Naw that wasn't tyson.

i went with roy cause of power behind the speed...
Boxer with the all time fastest hand speed? where do you see ANYTHING involving power? why do mofo always try to change shit. Name the FASTEST boxer IYO cuz THATS what the OP is asking gawd Damnit.

Yo there missing mad boxers on here. Where's sweet Pea? Mr. Whitaker himself? And tyson doesnt get enough props on his hand speed in his prime at that weight
