[Box Office] Jun 23-25 - Spider Verse back on top.. Flash Officially Flopped

This isn't true

The Flash has been the major DC release...for at least a year they've been showing trailers and advertising this movie. It has three trailers. It had a Super Bowl advertising, plus it has a TV show.

The writers strike just happen recently.

I'm NOT talking about the Flash specifically

But the strike and Ezra and the rest of the cast unable and unwilling to promote the movie did have an effect.

As well as every OTHER self inflicted hurdle the WB had to get over.

This movie much like Black Adam been in the machine for a long while.

There is going to be a book or documentary about all the behind the scenes.

I'm ok with OKAY.

people all think they studio executives now.

Every damn movie is NOT making a billion dollars and the studios KNOW this.

That is tru ..u know i follow the numbers ... pandemic fucked all this shit up ...

havent had more than 3 billion dollar movies since ...

Indy my shit tho ...i`m going to c it .... can u believe the 1st one came out in 1981 ...?

:eek2:

95% of the members probably wasnt even born ...lol

damn Guardians is ahead of Fast this week
wow

that bodes well for Gunn & DC and it says alot about the fast franchise. Ppl are done with it. It has jumped the shark, reversed over it and killed it.

You think this really bodes well for Gunn & Co?

I'm rooting for them but I think this is gonna get much harder before it gets better or easier.

I still don't get where the anti DC comes from.

all of these movies have been planned for years in advance.

The writers strike won't affect things in movies for a while

Seems like the only one who was doing in-person promos for the movie was Sasha Calle.. Keaton was busy filming Beetlejuice 2 w/Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega

imo its the best PR DC films has had in awhile

Marvel of late have underperformed. Critically and commerically but the last one that been universally praised is the one directed by Gunn
and he gets to take that goodwill and critical acclaim to run the competion

also the last few DCEU movies really have failed Shazam 2, Black Adam, WW84 & Flash. Gunn and the new reigme aint got nothing to do with those failures and will be given the benefit of the doubt unless their flicks are stinkers. But they have time on their side

I think making The Flash a goofey ass mufucka is what is hurting this movie. I have seen worse as well. This movie goes at the bottom of the list though.
I think what hurt this movie is the younger flash being Jar Jar Binks level annoying. Invoking a character so goddamn annoying it annoys himself, or the older version of himself, doesn't help the situation.

I didn't even stay for the post credit scene. I just wanted to get the fuck out of there. I didn't enjoy it at all in the ending was just fucking terrible. Bad CGI that I could have done better myself. I couldn't have but let's just say I could have

So Gunn and Commander Z saying the Flash is the best superhero movie of all times...

That just goes away huh?

Okay.

Cause remember they just hired the Flash director for the new Batman.

So if THAT flops?

Is THAT Gunn fault?

So if the Flash was a hit?

Gunn gets the credit?

But he had nothing to do with it

Okay.

And any Marvel success now is in SPITE of them and entirely based on the director?

Okay

And this is coming from a Gunn fan.

Damn. So safe to book Flash going to lose big money, Little Mermaid probably $150 million loss when it's all said and done, Elemental another 9 figure loss, and Fast is a loss. :smh: Bloodbath incoming with Indy.

So far Mario is the movie to beat and there is a lesson in there.

Movies don't have to make 1 billion, but if they going to produce fails with $250 million production budgets and $125 to $150 in advertising, they will need over $700 just to break fucking even. These types of Ls ain't sustainable.

Universal is smart because they can sell the streaming rights to recoup. Other studios got greedy and chose to launch their own streaming so they can't sell rights but to themselves. Double L.

what were they supposed to say
it was ok
their star should be on america's most wanted and they were trashing that DCEU anyway but still releasing it anyway
they had no hand in the development or production of the movie

if it did well great, if it bombs it wasnt their flick anyway
it was a win-win for the new creative

and as mentioned they Gunn has goodwill & get the benfit of the doubt...something DC flicks havent gotten in quite sometime

the flash director is a favorite in DC having done the IT movies. I can understand them wanting to give a fair shot now that there will be a clear direction and leadership under the brand

at this point best marvel films comes from directors who are able to play and bring creativety to the marvel sandbox....thats Gunn & Coolger almost everyone else is interchangeble (look at MCU track record of late of hiring and replacing directors on films & sequels). It no suprise the films have been lackluster. Quick question who directed Black Widow? Who directed the 1st Ms Marvel? Who is directing the sequel? Who was the 1st director on Blade? Aint none of Gunn

Good :dunno: That shit wasn't good to me.

It was a slow week, and people didn't wait until the second week, because it dropped over 70% in a already soft opening

I was thinking the other day how Transformers and Flash fucked up not going against Indiana Jones. They have the weekend to themselves, and nobody younger than 60 really gives a fuck about Indiana Jones.
George Lucas is different.

I remember going to the indiana jones theme attraction at mgm studios in Florida

I will see Indy

Just like I saw Star Wars

Crazy cause I enjoyed it but I have a heavy bias as Michael Keaton is my preferred choice of Batman so the nostalgia factor played heavy for me here.

That aside, I thought the movie was pretty good, especially under Gunn. I think once he can really sink his teeth into a project from the beginning, DC can finally start catching up to Marvel. They’ve always had the characters to do it but the direction and execution has usually missed for me, so I never paid them the attention I gave Marvel. To me, that feels different under Gunn now.

I’m even curious about this Blue Beetle flick that’s coming up.

So out of ALL the recent DC movies

Shazam 2
Black Adam
Batman
Suicide squad (either one)
Harley Quinn
Wonder woman 2
Aqua man
Justice league
BVS

Justice league (I didn't mind the extended version)
Aqua man (decent)
BVS (not bad)
Man of steel (not bad)
Suicide squad (it was ok)
The Flash (it was ok)
Wonder woman 2 (MEH! very forgettable film)
