When you have mental decline, it comes in spurts then all at once. My grandmother with dementia was sharp as a tack in moments, citing Phillies stats with ease, and in other instances, she was asking when I was going to marry Sue because she's a good girl. Sue is my mom, and my grandmother thought I was my pops.

It’s a bit of a hyperbole to say he can’t forecast accurately.
NOAA isn’t the only one that does this. The GFS model is one of several models. The reduction of forecast accuracy would come from the GFS model having less observed data. But as a meteorologist he knows to never lean on one thing.
Also, it’s nobody but NOAA’s fault for the staff shortage before the reduction. They make it so damn hard to get in there. It’s a discouraging process.
