You can't add or alter polls after the fact on BGOL.

It gives more people a chance to chime in and makes the result more interesting.

Maybe everybody who votes won't see that result but it's interesting to see a more solid opinion of how people evaluate Player X from 1960 vs Player Y from 2010 without names attached.

#2 Best FG% and 1.5 fouls.

I would consider the fact that Player 2 only shot two pointers.

His actual percentage on shots worth two points is second to last in this field.

PLAYER 1- 48.7 2P%, PLAYER 2- 45.1 2P%, PLAYER 3- 47.3 2P%, PLAYER 4- 43.7 2P%, PLAYER 5- 46.9 2P%

Previous shooting guard results-- Imagine the results with names attached. 13% picking Wally Szczerbiak over Ray Allen and Reggie Miller? Never. That's probably bad judgement from the people who picked Szczerbiak, but Allen won that group resoundingly where Reggie Miller likely would've won on name recognition.

It's tough to judge between eras-- You can tell Player 2 was the earliest because there was no three point shot and they kept less statistics. It's close but I think Player 1 was the best shooter on the list with only .3% lower overall FG%, 2.6% higher 2P% and a better FT% compared to Player 2.

You called it on this guy...

Samuel "Sam" Jones (born June 24, 1933) is a retired American professional basketball player at shooting guard and a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He was known for his quickness and game-winning shots, especially during the NBA Playoffs. He has the second most NBA championships of any player (10), behind his teammate Bill Russell (11).

Jones played all of his 12 seasons in the NBA with the Celtics and was named to the All-NBA Second Team three straight years (1965–67). He was known as a clutch scorer, with more than 15,000 points in his career. He participated in five All-Star Games, and is usually recognized as one of the best shooting guards of his generation.

Jones’ perfect form when shooting a jump shot, along with his great clutch shooting, led opponents to nickname him "The Shooter." He was particularly adept shooting the bank shot, in which the shooter bounces the ball off the backboard en route to the basket. At 6-foot-4, Jones was the prototype of the tall guard who could run the floor, bang the boards and had a rangy offensive game that gave opponents fits. One of the "Jones Boys" in Boston, Sam teamed with K. C. Jones in the Celtics' backcourt to create havoc in NBA arenas around the country.

He led Boston in scoring in the 1962-63 NBA season (19.7 points per game), 1964-65 NBA season (25.9) and 1965-66 NBA season (23.5). He produced four consecutive seasons averaging 20 points or better (1965–68). He owns Boston's fourth-best single-game scoring output (51 points vs. Detroit Pistons on October 29, 1965). He scored 2,909 points in 154 playoff games (18.9 ppg), 26th best in history.

This time I definitely picked the right player

:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

Sam Jones played on a team full of hall of famers, of course he won

I'm glad I picked Ginooooobli[/Barkley] over the rest.

He gives a little bit of everything. The rest just score.

I wonder how John Starks would have done in Manu's role. I think he'd have been a Hall of Famer with those 1960s Celtics. And, obviously, would've won about 10 rings himself.
