Blade | Marvel Studios | Mahershala Ali... Officially Out

I’m not sure how Deadpool applies to blade; Deadpool was is a known property that was already made and scripted and made a lot of money! Wasn’t a reboot property like blade; also It was 2 movies in before Disney got the property; also disney was in transition when it was trying to do blade so I think that played a lot into it. Also Reynolds has a lot more pull and a bigger star than Ali is; which plays a role in all of this as well; don’t think Deadpool and blade are a fair comparison and or an appropriate comparison…
Reynold's has pull because of what he did with Deadpool. Reynold's career was pretty much trash after both the failures of Wolverine and Green Lantern. Again, he had to beg for a chance to do deadpool in the first place.

Did you even read the part where I wrote Disney almost fucked up the third deadpool by trying to add "woke" elements to it? It seems like you missed that part completely.

Do you realize Snipes did the same thing Ryan did with Deadpool when Blade first came out? Snipes took the property, put his stamp on it and made two hit movies out of it. We literally saw what can happen when a studio still needs to inject themselves into an already hit property. Do I have to explain how Blade 3 fell apart because of this?

Since you didn't get my point I'll make it simple for you. Two things have to happen with the new blade movie.

1. find someone who truly loves the property and will do right by it.
2. Disney needs to stay the fuck out of it and let number 1 happen.

Get it now??

But you are saying the same thing Kevin said...

And no Reynolds career was not dead; he's done a few successful movies outside of Deadpool and he got a billion dollar company. So im sure that carries weight to. Again I read all your shit and Disney, which Kevin stated, had a different agenda when Blade was going Thru is shit as opposed to now. They also had different leadership as opposed to now which played a part

Name all his hit movies PRIOR to Deadpool?

Nobody wanted a super girl movie couple that with a bad movie and boom....

I didn't want one but I wasn't opposed to it either.

I didn't know I wanted obsession or the furious... but darn it I truly did.

I was offended that it wasn't good.

I did not want that.

Gunn promised us that "unlike Marvel" he wouldn't Greenwich a project until the script is perfect...

and you read that article about what a sh*t show all that was behind the scenes

I'd rather not have the movie than be given a bad one

He wasn't campaigning as you stated earlier prior to Deadpool. So again my statement about his pull was based on after Deadpool was already popular
Stop with the bullshit and answer the question.

you are full of shit if you truly believe he wasn't campaigning hard to get the Deadpool role.

"Reynolds, along with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, spent more than a decade trying to bring Deadpool to the big screen (they got close once, but then Reynolds’ superhero movie The Green Lantern bombed). Fox finally said yes after test footage from director Tim Miller was leaked online to positive response. “I plead the fifth,” says Reynolds regarding the leak."

“Deadpool is probably the most unpolished superhero out there, and it gave us this almost unfair advantage. We used this opportunity over and over because we had a character that is a total misfit and f—ing rascal,” says Reynolds. “I can channel this guy [Deadpool] in a way I just can’t seem to channel anything else. When it comes to Deadpool’s sensibility, and certainly his sense of humor, I feel like we were born on the same end of the spectrum.”

A cautious Fox capped Deadpool‘s production budget at $60 million, and was likewise conservative when it came to the marketing spend, Reynolds says. For example, the now-infamous Deadpool billboard with a poop emoji only appeared in a few places, yet became a viral sensation. “The ad buys for Deadpool were minimal compared to the reward we reaped because we hijacked the internet,” says Reynolds.

The actor, a producer on Deadpool, recalls logging a personal call to Chevrolet to see if the automaker would provide vehicles for the shoot in Vancouver. “I phoned whomever was in charge of product placement for Chevy, but they were concerned with the materials they’d seen online,” he says.

Ultimately, the production had to buy vehicles — but it was the filmmakers who got the last laugh. Released in February 2016, the Fox film grossed $782.6 million worldwide, a record for an R-rated film.

“I swear someone should just make a romantic comedy starring Marc [Weinstock] and I,” says Reynolds, who is gearing up for Deadpool 2. “We were all energized from the get-go. The creative model for the film and the marketing model meshed well together. We were always, always trying to make one dollar look like 10.”

SHORT VERSION- Ryan Reynolds went on a full social media blitz when he decided he wanted a second chance at playing Deadpool the correct way. Remember, "the merc with a mouth" was never allowed to speak in his first appearance in Wolverine. Fox wasn't interested in Ryan doing any new Deadpool projects.

At some point, Fox paid for some test footage that end up getting "leaked" and social media went wild over it. Eventually Ryan and the first director, Tim Miller, made a monster hit movie because Fox let Ryan and Tim do what they wanted to do.

When it came time for the second film, Fox was more than happy to oblige. Ryan had full control over everything. He even fired Tim when he felt Tim would hinder his vision of how the the sequel should be made.

When Disney got involved, there were a lot of questions about whether or not they would be willing to make another R-rated Deadpool, which would be the only way Reynolds would have done it. Eventually, Disney gave him the greenlight to not only do a third film, but include Wolverine as his frenemy in the movie. It should be noted that prior to this, Reynolds made all kinds of social media jabs and jokes over the years about Hugh Jackman and his Wolverine character. Jackman, in on the joke, would respond with a set of jabs at Ryans' expense. It was basically a part of Reynolds social media blitz to get Jackman's Wolverine into a Deadpool movie.

During production, it was rumored that Disney tried to insert a lot of ideas into the story that, lets just say, were similar to what they tried to do with the Blade script (I refuse to say the W-word). At this point, Reynolds was able to tell the studio to fuck off and leave him alone. They left him alone to complete his vision. As a result, Disney got roughly a 1.5 billion box office hit out of Reynolds.

Hope that all makes sense.

Ryan Reynolds On How The Difficult Journey To Make ‘Deadpool’ Inspired His Business Career & Why Humor & Speed Are Key To Marketing Campaigns: Cannes Lion

Ryan Reynolds has revealed that his recent incarnation as a global marketing supremo came about in part because of tireless efforts to get his hit comic movie Deadpool off the ground.

“I spent ten years trying to get the film Deadpool made — it was hell,” he told an audience at the Cannes Lions advertising event in France today. “We shot some test footage, some absolute bastard leaked it onto the internet, and that’s what got the movie made.”

Solid info …

I’m not arguing with bro; I’m just saying I don’t think Deadpool and blade are comparable. I do understand what bro is saying though

Yeah that part don't fit

Ali wasn't publicly campaigning and doing the serious work Ryan put in just to get attention

But I understand his overall point.

Agreed. I think we all feel some kinda way that marvel/disney drop the ball on blade. I dont think there was some hidden agenda not to do blade though...

Basically, I was just trying to say put a team together with that kind of energy and let them do their thing. I just happened to pick an extreme example...lol.

Who wants a bad movie?

Hold on self edit...

Your right the last Scream was bad but no one cared because they wanted Stu.

Got it.

But bad also is different for genres also! So a bad comedy might not be that bad as a bad superhero movie, feel me…

Yes.

But then now that's even MORE subjective

Supergirl failed as a cinematic experience period.

Thor love & thunder was a mess but LOOKED GREAT.

Thor 2 had great moments that developed the character but was not epic enough.

Supergirl failed because it was paint by numbers at its mist base plus frustratingly had some OUTSTANDING moments that showed it was all the writer, director, editor, music, and studio heads fault.

Supergirl isn't a BAD movie it's a disappointment.

That suckers who were gonna hate it before even seeing it can now use to justify they bullsh*t.

it is not a HORRIBLE movie by any means.

I mean Thor had already a following/base so I think it did like 650 plus and everyone said it failed. But if super girl did that number everyone would say it was a success. The issue is real simple to me. DC should have stuck with what works. Build on Superman and Batman with another movie from them and introduce characters in those movies; and then expound with tv series and movies for those characters. Again no one cares about super girl. And then you make a bad movie to go along with that and boom. DC already has a bad rep! So this just proves it…

Bro...I think the two Batman thing is f**king with them.

I came out of Super Girl thinking this would have probably been better as a mini-series. They threw so much stuff at us for a character we barely know in this version of the DCU.

Regardless, like you, I was surprised they decided to make a Supergirl movie as their second big release.

Right excellent point my bro! That what I mean. They not taking time to build out these characters! Hell we had a few iron man thors and captain America before we had an avengers ; and we never got black widow or Hawkeye until later! DC just don’t get it…

What you mean bro?

I honestly believe they are unable to decide how to proceed with having 2 batman version

DCEU vs Reeves

Especially post the huge success of Penguin

The Brave and Bold has no update and Reeves just pushed back his movie MORE

I think Gunn is unsure if the public will accept 2 (Jimmy? They will) and also I think Jimmy feels it's HIS UNIVERSE.

And he IS the boss but there was a separate kingdom already existing

And I feel that is kinda why he rushed the super girl to get HIS VISION off the ground.

Because reading that article? Jimmy seems to not be a good BOSS and that is what he is supposed to be.

He made a couple of slick Marvel disses. But he making the same "mistakes"

I want him to win Clayface better work Lanterns better work superman 2 better work.

Oh ok I see what you mean! Yeah that’s a problem for sure. Again it goes back to DC not having a plan and not being on the same page. We seen some of that with marvel after end game. Difference is DC has never had an end game before ….

That's the thing you saw all the videos

Jimmy had a detailed plan for multiple phases and interconnected universe with comics movies and animation

He HAD A PLAN... and still does.

I just hope that sh*t works.
