The revolution will not be televised, it will be twitterized.

Black Twitter is, loosely speaking, a group of thousands of black Twitterers (though, to be accurate, not everyone within Black Twitter is black, and not every black person on Twitter is in Black Twitter) who a) are interested in issues of race in the news and pop culture and b) tweet A LOT.

real shit.

i said years ago, although obviously i wasn't the first to think it...the internet will be their structures downfall.

hiding knowledge is how they win...they can't control this bitch.

It's time for people to stop dismissing twitter as another dumb social network. If you're trying to make positive change in the black community, it doesn't get any easier than logging on and getting involved.

Lots of good discussions to be had.

Ya'll giving Twitter far too much credit. Especially when the ratio between informative information and BULLSHIT is like 1 to 1,000.

And especially when it was used to overthrow several governments in the middle east

If you have too much bullshit coming across your timeline, then that is a reflection on you. :smh:

Twitter and the internet in general provide a voice to many that would not have been heard 10-15 years ago. In the past a story like Trayvon Martin would have only gotten 6pm news and liberal college news paper press at best. But Twitter allows for information flow more faster and more freely. In the end it opens the eyes of many to social issues that they would have had no idea of before.
Now if there was a WorldStar that focused on social issues :dunno:

only time i hear about "black twitter" is when theres a trending topic and they are making fun of someone/something

:smh::lol: Okay. I'll be waiting for the revolution to occur........Just another reason for people to sit at the computer and not get off their ass. If ya'll want to do something get off ya'll ass and do it.

Well I use Twitter for networking and getting in touch with people in the same field i'm in. I wouldn't dare use it for anything else. Just too much bullshit for me. But then again maybe I don't know how to use twitter. I hit people up through DM's. I don't even know what you even talking about when you bring up a "timeline".

Exactly. Last I heard of "Black Twitter" was Chris Brown having a seizure. And that's back to what I was saying. Only time you see "Black Twitter" mentioned is when its on some bullshit like Chris Brown having a seizure or when someone black fucks up and they make fun of him. I haven't seen any signs of any revolution other than the "messy" one "Black Twitter" has in social media.

it will be a great tool to network and hire from our own community only if it's implemented the right way. Lots of potential.

That's all I know about it too. From what I know it has nothing to do with business or growth. It's just a group of people that go around cracking jokes, at least from what I've seen posted on here that's recognized as "Black Twitter". As far as business goes, Tumblr has been way better for me.

Twitter can be an extremely powerful tool in the right hands. For those of us that use it for business purposes can understand its strengths; however the majority that use it as digital tourettes makes it seem worthless.

Black twitter is a bunch of clowns who talk about the fine art of eating ass and spending $200 on dates or making fun of trivial shit and making Love and HipHop the number 1 trending topics.

There is power in numbers but as far as most of the blacks and latina's that's what drives them and what they put their energy into. I wouldn't hold my breathe waiting on any leadership from them. They're more interested in promoting whatever artist is hot or not.

Another BGOL thread where a good number of posters are typing without knowing what the fuck they're talking about. Twitter is one of the most powerful tools available to folk right now and Black Twitter is the real deal.

The Trayvon Martin juror who had a book deal decided not to go ahead with her book after getting outed on Black Twitter. The person who blew up her spot started tweeting the book publisher who signed the deal casting a negative light upon the whole sordid affair. When the rest of Black Twitter picked up on it and started retweeting and tweeting the publisher, word spread and a wave a negative publicity hit the project before it even got started. The publisher backed down and decided not to publish the book. The juror dead'd the idea of writing about her experiences.

ABC's Scandal is a network monster because of Black Twitter.

Read up on Black Twitter and see how mainstream media sites (Gawker, Buzzfeed, Huffington Post) regularly mine Black Twitter for content ideas and go on and publish them on their own site without any sort of accreditation. Mind you, these three sites makes millions of dollars off of their online content.

Just because YOU don't understand it doesn't mean it's not valid.

The problem then becomes deciphering the REAL info from the bullshit. I mean they flood the net With misinformation and halfI truths the same way they did with the textbooks we had in school. We go reading that shit believing that shit is the gospel and now, e en though we tried we are STILL lost.

How are we to discern real info from the bullshit? One of the reasons we have lost so often is the face that there is always a fox in the henhouse, a snake in the Everglades playing is to curry favor or line his pockets or both. It happened in the slave days to squash revolt attemps and it happens now in more ways than I can count.

No, we're talking specifically about the group that is referred to as Black Twitter, at least here on BGOL. Every time I see a thread titled "Black Twitter" it's usually just kids clowning a celebrity. I'm just trying to figure out if that's what directly what Kaya is talking about, cuz if so, they aren't really doing anything good or motivational. Now if he's talking about something entirely different than point us to these black men and women trying to actually do business.
