Just finished watching this film and Good God. That was even worse than The Wrestler and that's saying something. Some of the worst dialogue imaginable (I have heard the film's supporters talking about it having rich, melodramatic, b-movie verve but no b-movie that I've ever enjoyed has dialogue like "I wasn't with you last night - not unless your name is Tom and you have a blah blahblah" - that's a Showgirls level of idiocy.

Also, I might know a thing or two about films and Ive seen the kind of work film students make, if there's a lot of mirrors in the first act of the film, those mirrors are going to end up smashed into bits in the last third.

There's a whole Carrie-esque subplot that goes nowhere. A sort of Fight-Club subplot that goes nowhere. A Winona Ryder subplot that goes nowhere. A scene where super-suave ballet maestro Vincent Cassel gets a sloppy kiss from a girl and instantly goes all guh-huh-huh she shore is purty! like a yokel who's not used to being around girls. There's the most ridiculous final scene imaginable, which seems to be there only so that the director can call this a 'diptych' with The Wrestler. And - and - agggh. What a stunningly awful waste of time and money.

I hope it doesn't win anything this crap

nah only dl it from here...the film was certainly horrible, in that I haven't had to look away from the screen so much since Saw III.

I liked it. Then again, I like classical music and the arts.
The score was the shit to me...its a low budget arthouse flick. Its already made its money back.

I watched that shit on a whim and it was dope as hell. That bitch was crazy movie had a dark eerie feel to it. And the masturbation and the lesbo scene were on point.

It's crazy how people's taste in movies vary. So what do you feel as though were one of the better films that were released this year?

Damn cats are giving SWAN props in the MOVIE FORUM, I'm watching it now its aight nothing spectacular like they made it seem to be

lol its funny how thats all it takes for a movie to get a good review, take out the lesbian and masturbation scenes and cats wouldn't even give a fuck. Its the same for girl with the dragon tattoo, I hear cats hyping that boring shit yet the only scene I ever hear anyone talk about are the rape scenes and nothing else

Those definitely add to it, but if you take it away I don't think the movie is bad at all. I don't think the dialogue was that good but I Natalie Portman did a good as job in the flick. Just watching her character's transformation was dope as hell. And I was confused than a motherfucker watching that shit. I think the movie was beautifully shot also.

I watched the director's other movie last night "The Fountain" which I didn't like as much as Black Swan but I thought it was good.

I still want to know what y'all thought were some of the better movies that came out this year?

Yea my girl dragged me to see it and it was amazingly good; it deserves all the oscar nominations it will get. Very disturbing atmosphere and imagery...its the same dude that did "Requiem for a Dream" and "Wrestler" so I'm not surprised that it messed with my head so bad:yes:

thats a tuff one 2010 was just bad for movies, Inception is my fav moive of the year but I was going through the list and I've seen most of the movies that came out and most were crap, some were good but weren't worth mentioning because of bad plot twists and ending like the book of Eli.

thats bullshit, movies are made for entertainment for all not one sex, thats like saying grown folks shouldn't watch cartoons because they are for kids.

Hey, "Shortbus" was a good movie. Would I watch it again? HELL NO! WAY TOO MUCH FAGGOTRY to be "of interest" to me.
This movie was ballerina drama. BALLERINA DRAMA, NUGGAH! :smh:
You know what I learned from this movie? Eating a grapefruit a day will drive a skinny bitch crazy. That's what I learned.
Some shit just ain't made for everybody. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE FILMS. Heterosexual males will have no interest in this.
This shit is for gays and girls. PERIOD.

I was going to check that movie out too, but something told me not to. Glad I didn't waste my time.

Dark City is the greatest film ever created.

That shit was kinda dope.

The payoff at the end was a little more subtle than I would've expected, and there were a lot of loose ends left for you to try to explain on your own, but overall I'd give it a B+/A-.

The way the movie paralleled the play was cool, and Natalie Portman was very convincing as an artist driven to madness in search of perfection.
