Ok my Dudu-Osun came in yesterday and I used it, but so far the smell is not as refreshing as the Nubian Heritage, and doesn't have the moisturizer that Nubian has, but it's just been one day, so I'm willing to continue to give it a try.

But after my bath or shower, I use Nivea lotion with the Mineral Oil now, so we'll see.

I use it just for face and my hair. I'm cursed with oily skin so my face doesn't dry out. If you know something I don't let me know

Same here, and Dudu works for me

Cool. Give it more tries, but I'm telling you: Find that Shea Moisture Black Soap. Next to the Nubian Heritage joints, it's the truth. A little pricey at $4.99, but it is a bigger bar, and worth it.

I feel that Dudu Osun is the closest thing to original black soap. The Nubian Heritage and even Shea Moisture joints are slightly over engineered, and might have some chemicals in them to enhance the smell.

Again, check your local Target or Walgreens.

There are several threads about this on SOL. There are posted formulas as well about how to even make your own. And what to get and where to buy. For hair, body.

just make sure yall rinse the tub after using that dudu soap cuz the dudu stains it leaves in the tub are not cool.

try explaining that to a chick you are about to hit the shower with.

her: :puke:whats up with the brown stains in the tub?
you: oh haha nah nah thats just the stains from this new soap i got.
her: soap that leaves brown stains? whats it called?
you: umm its called doodoo something.
her: :hmm:
you: what? nah im serious here it is right here (placing big lump of shit looking soap in her hand)
her: i think im just gonna head home now.

Best thing ever for your skin. Make sure when you go that you look for a fresh bar. It will appear firm and sort of moist. Almost damp. DO NOT USE THAT NUBIAN CRAP!

look at the ingredients!!!!!

nubian heritage: african black soap base? WTF is that? vegetable glycerin is what makes your skin feel smooth.

dudu osun doesn't try to fool you... it's raw & pure.

u can get black soap at just about any beauty supply store...they have it in a bar...and i found some in a tub...i love it and it doesnt stink

btw...mineral oil is evil..if ur gonna use black soap might as well use a good natural moisturizer like aloe jelly or shea butter:yes:

Ok, I'm bumping this because I'm getting ready to order more of the Dudu Osun, but here is my problem I can't find a good moisturizer that I like. Do I use the whipped Shea butter or what is recommended because everything that says it has shea butter doesn't. My skin dries easy, so I really need something to keep me moist especially with it being cold.

I have a friend that swears by Tree Hut, but it seems a lil heavy to me.

Also, just to let you all know I absolutely love the dudu osun soap, I love that it never loses it's lather.

I doubt anyone is gonna beat ebays prices on this . I'm using olive oil soap and the African shop charges $5 per block of soap and eBay had it for like $1 or 2 bucks each.

I'm bumping this because I think my skin has become immune to the DuDu Osun so I'm going to try some of the others mentioned and you all were right the asians does have the market cornered on this stuff too. So I'll be going by there tomorrow. I guess I'll try the tub of black soap

I think this is part of my problem, my skin is drying out like crazy. I'm even taking the shea butter and mixing it with coconut oil but by mid day I'm ashy. So I'm wondering could it be the soap :dunno:

i keep telling people, "READ THE INGREDIENTS!"

the 'commercially available" brands will smell better and will likely feel better, but just read the ingredients: water, glycerin, petrolatum, F&D color #436, etc., etc.

that's all chemicals and bullshit. the dudu osun soap has what... 7 natural ingredients? if it's drying out your skin, it might be a function of the local water supply (added chlorine, etc) OR it could be your skin finally "opened-up" after taking in all that bullshit in your pores.

the same thing happens when you switch to natural deodorants vs commercial.

I'm in Dallas and I buy my Shea Moisture black soap from Target.

This soap here is nice. Not as harsh as Dudu Osun but very good.

Man, best thing I did was on my trip to Nigeria this June, I bought a shitload of Dudu Osun soap :D way cheaper than buying it here :smh:

But the Shea Moisture line of soaps are nice

Check at your local Target Coco

That's exactly why I stopped using it. Shit (no pun intended) turned all of my towels dingy.

Every brand of blacksoap I've tried has dried my skin out. I got best results with the one I purchased here. http://www.nasabb.com/ I haven't tried the shea moisture brand, tho I use the hair products and baby lotion. Their stuff is all natural, shouldn't have any chemicals.
